1 Thessalonians 4:1; Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort [you] by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, [so] ye would abound more and more.
Okay, what did Paul tell them? How were they supposed to walk? What pleases God?
Received, is the Greek word lambano, we studied it this week it means received into manifestation, or to bring forth into manifestation that which you’ve already received. There is another Greek word for received, which was dechomai–to receive into yourself. When we get born again we dechomai the gift of holy spirit from God who is holy and who is spirit. He gives us out of the substance that He is. To manifest Him in our lives we have to use the gift He gave us. We have to operate it. There is one gift of holy spirit, small h and small s because we are talking about the gift and not God himself who is THE Holy Spirit and the giver. There are nine manifestations of the gift of holy spirit. Failure to recognize the difference between the gift and the Giver has caused no end of confusion in religious circles. When you understand this difference, you will understand the fullness of the power within you and tap into the more abundant life available to you. John 3:6 clearly illustrates this.
John 3:6; …that which is born of the Spirit (The Pneuma, Spirit, God) is spirit (pneuma)
When Paul said, you received from us how you ought to walk and how to please God. What did he mean?
John 4:23-24; But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.
The Father is seeking those who will use their spiritual gift. Spiritual abilities and gifts are not recognizable to our five senses. They are spiritual in nature and not natural or human in nature. Natural man cannot receive (dechomai) the things of spiritual nature.
1 Corinthians 2:14; But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know (ginosko-to know by experiencing) [them], because they are spiritually discerned.
When we operate our gift of holy spirit, we are worshipping God the way he wants us to worship him.
Romans 8:8; So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
Romans is written to the church as a doctrinal epistle. It has laid out the right way to believe. If the Word says what it means and means what it says, then folks, we ought to learn how to manifest the gift of holy spirit. Else, how will we reap the fruit of the spirit? Peace, love, joy? How will we discern things of the spirit? There is one gift and nine manifestations of that one gift. The operation of those nine manifestations brings about a pleasing walk to God as it says above in 1 Thess. 4:1.
1 Corinthians 12:7; But the manifestation of the spirit is given to every man to profit withal (profits all those with the gift of holy spirit).
Listed here are the nine manifestations of the gift of holy spirit; (As listed in 1 Corinthians 12)

This has nothing to do with religion, or denominations. This has to do with God and what He put in His Word. If you are Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist, Pentecostal or any other form of Christianity ,then you yearn to know the things of God. Do not allow man to decide what you should believe about God. Allow God to show you by way of His magnificent Word which is the only thing in the senses realm that reveals Him. God’s Word stands the test of time, let man’s opinions be proven against it not the other way around.
2 Timothy 2:15; Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
We wanted to know what pleases God. Walking in the spirit and in truth is what pleases God. How do we do that? By learning about the great principle of God’s gift of holy spirit, as it was poured out to all mankind on the day of Pentecost, and received (dechomai) by those who believed Romans 10:9-10. When you know and practice this principle, you will “abound more and more.”
God bless you today!
