Liberty, Independence, Self-determination, Self-direction.
These words are synonyms for freedom. We have the freedom to decide for ourselves in this life and not be a slave to the choices of others. God gave us freewill. He never over steps it. He always presents us with a choice between better and best, good and awesome, just getting by and exceeding abundant. We always have those choices. The devil tries to convince us that the lesser is all there will ever be. But compromise is not a synonym for freedom. In fact it is the opposite of freedom. Slavery, depression, condemnation, and oppression are also the opposite. How, in this miraculous age of information, technology and freedom could we feel like we’re in bondage? The same way ol’ David did.
“For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me. My wounds stink [and] are corrupt because of my foolishness. I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.” Psalms 38:4-6
Believers aren’t required to be on top of our game all the time, but we should know where to renew our strength.
“For in thee, O LORD, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.” Psalms 38:15
Maybe you just feel confusion, or a lack of joy.
“Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke [is] easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
We don’t have to know it all. We don’t have to have all the strength, all the understanding, or conviction of purpose. All we need to do is lay our burdens to rest in the loving arms of our Father. Love is a powerful motivator. It is a powerful healer. So… just love Him. Thank Him for His son Jesus Christ then trust that His love will take care of you. He is our Father. A far better version then the best of examples here on earth.
“Now the end of the commandment is charity (love-agape) out of a pure heart, and [of] a good conscience, and [of] faith unfeigned:” 1 Timothy 1:5
Let God take care of you. Let Him hold you and tell you how proud He is of you. Let Him love you with that real deal love of God. However long it takes, take the time you need with Him. Ask Him your questions. Discuss your hopes, your dreams, your failures, and your excuses. Find out how much all those things mean in His eyes. He is kind. So kind. Kind enough to free you of all that binds.
“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” Romans 8:15
