5 Daily Habits of a Highly Effective Spiritual Warrior-Part 3

Hopefully you have learned, as you have followed this blog series, that these steps are easy to do. “DO” being the key word. Understanding comes in the doing. They get easier to put in your schedule the longer you make them a priority.

Daily habit #3 is:

Giving = Receiving. Its a principle just like believing & gravity. You cannot break it only learn to operate it correctly. Lets see what God has to say about giving.

Philipians 4:15-19 Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only. 16. For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. 17. Not because I desire a gift: but I desire frut that may abound to your account. 18. But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odor of a sweetsmell a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. 19. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

It is extremely important, when you are studying God’s word that you read the entire context around a verse. Here, Paul is talking to a sister church in Philipi and complimenting their tithe and abundant sharing towards him and the ministry he was running.

II Corinthians 9:6-8 But this I say, he which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 8. And God is able to make all grace abound towards you; that ye always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.

God Loves a Cheerful Giver

That phrase “God loveth a cheerful giver” is pretty huge. How do you give cheerfully? Do a heart check using the very same verse just like recipe steps. Step 1. Purpose in your own heart what to give, Step 2-3. figure out if its grudgingly or out of your need being met and if it’s not either of those GO FOR IT. It’s always smart to ask if God wants you to give to something or someone first as well.

How will God bless you back?

Malichi 3:10-11 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.

Here is your promise in action. There are always two parts to a promise. The action needed on your part and the fulfilling of the promise on God’s part. If you drive up to the fast food restaurant menu and just sit there will you get anything accomplished? If you do not pay them for the food will they give it to you? These are procedures. Promises are the same way. You do (A) God does (B). Simple huh.  Unfortunately sometimes we over analyse the Word when all we need is to just do it. Follow it step by step, and watch as the promises are activated in your life. A ten percent tithe of your first fruits or net income was the percentage in the Old Testament. There is nothing wrong with going to God to find out what percentage after 10%, that is appropriate for your life.

I will also point out that 90% of your income with God’s hand of blessing and protection on it will go much farther than all 100% of your income without God’s blessing and protection. GIVE. Take those promises and go to God to find out the where, how much, and who to give to. You’ll be doing the Word and reaping what you sow.  God Bless and Happy Giving!

First Birthday Cake! Yummy!!
