My little boy,
who is almost 2-years old, was playing with a unplugged CD player this morning. His pudgy little fingers examined it closely, opening and closing it several times. Then spotting a small piece of string on the floor, he grabbed it and brought it back to the CD player. It fell neatly down into the gears and player mechanisms. He was having loads of fun, until I discovered it. I’ve heard of kids putting sandwiches in the VCR, and cookies in the DVD tray, it all seems like it should fit…right?
Well, only as much as sand belongs in the machinery of life!
Isn’t life like that sometimes? We are traveling along and then someone says something that really stings, they throw sand in our mental machinery. Their intention was not to hurt us or make us afraid but the careless words do just that. I can’t get angry at my son for mishandling a valuable item. He doesn’t know any better yet. But I can teach him the proper way to use that item and correct the error, right? Your heart is far more important to God than a CD player or anything in this world.
Proverbs 4:23 Keep(Guard) thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
We love people. We go to God to fight the adversary. You use spirit to fight with spirit. Ephesians 6:12 If people choose to operate on the principles the adversary promotes instead of walk in love, thats their decision.
Lets go to the Word of God and let Him show us how to handle these situations.
Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minster grace unto the hearers.
Don’t you love being around someone who lifts you up, encourages you, believes in you? You walk away more blessed. Someone who’s not always looking for a fight. Seems to me many believers think God wants them to fight their way through life. This fight is over us, not with us. God and Jesus Christ fought and won the war, the devil still fights to destroy us. But we have to decide do we want to be on the winning team everyday. If you are born-again, you are on the winning team. Romans 10:9-10. But you still need to actively fight for your sound mind.
John 10:10The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly.
Your quality of life is up to you!
2 Timothy 2:24-26 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekenss instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
Subsquentially, the devil will put sand in your mental machinery by using doubt, worry, and worst of all, fear. 2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. That doubt, worry, and fear are going to mess with your sound mind, right? Well, power–in the name of Jesus Christ– and love,–agape–is going to overcome the fear and win you back that precious sound mind. If we are fighting all the time over the Word of God (which btw, needs no defence) it seems to me it would mess with your sound mind. Word battles and endless arguments about scripture are a trick and will eventually pull you off the Word. 2 Timothy 2:23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
The Word of God can speak on its own behalf.
Strife = Sand. Get the strife out and you’re on your way to a well-oiled machine. Proverbs 17:14 The beginning of strife is as when one lets out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.
