What if before you could enjoy something,
you needed to carry 2,000 bricks first?
You could only carry them one by one. Would you do it? What if you knew it was building your own house?
Our walk with God is a simple daily choice of picking up those bricks, called our thoughts. Ephesians 4:23; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind. The definition of the Renewed mind is to put the Word of God in your mind and act accordingly. Brick by brick you begin building the house for God. The Word in your mind is a solid unmovable foundation. Something to set your hopes and dreams on and build up from there. His promises and procedures for getting needs met build a sturdy structure.
Matthew 16:18; And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter (petros=small stone), and upon this rock (petra=cliff, or large bearing stone) I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
The Petra there is that Jesus was the Son of the living God and the Christ they were waiting for. This was the truth or rock Jesus was going to build his church on. But Peter was only a man. Not just any man, but a man none the less. Jesus was the Christ. This is a wonderful example of God building his own church and helping Peter with his renewed mind thinking. God will continue to build it with the power of Christ in us, that anointing that Jesus had is also in us upon becoming born again. How exciting!
Colossians 1:27; To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
That “Christ in us”, is our hope. We daily renew our mind to that hope of Jesus Christ’s return. Thereby building our brick house and the church of God. What are we building? Our minds, the church and the spiritual body of believers in that church. When we see things dividing people from God then we’ll find the devil. He is always tearing down the believer and the church. Or making people believe they can build it by themselves. (Pride)
Philippians 4:13; I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
It is like the saying, “If you build it they will come,” from the movie Field of Dreams. God built his church on Jesus Christ the cornerstone the Petra, now we need to come to him and build from there.
