What is “the Mystery”?

Ephesians 1:9; Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself.

The Mystery; Our Christmas Gift from God.

The Mystery

I’m sure you’ve heard that saying, “God works in mysterious ways”. Ephesians 1:9; is where they get that. I noticed that when God is working and blessing my life, it’s very obvious. Just as obvious as when the devil is working. So what is so mysterious about that? And what is “the mystery” anyways?

Romans 16:25 Now to him that is of power to establish you, according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began.

That verse really gets us asking the question. What’s the Mystery? (See…God loves a good mystery novel!) We, as biblical detectives, have to search through, find the clues. Writing and reading both take this skill.

Colossians 1:27; To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles;(unbelievers) which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

God kept the “Salvation Plan” a mystery from the Devil and the world. God had a reason for hiding it. One very good reason!

1 Corinthians 2:7-8; But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, hidden, which God ordained before the world unto our glory, Which none of the princes of this world(the devil and his sidekicks) knew: for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. (Jesus Christ)

What? Why wouldn’t they crucify him? He was their enemy!

Because Jesus Christ gave power back to God’s kids. To what? Kick the devil’s butt! Of course the devil wouldn’t want that. So God hid it from him. Doesn’t that bless you to know who God is talking about when he mentions “the mystery”. Now it’s our job to spread the word about it and keep it safe. Go with me today, and tell someone what you learned about the mystery.
