Who Did He Bow To? And Why?

Ephesians 3:14-15; For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

I bow my knees unto the Father.

I love to speak the truth. Isn’t it refreshing to hear as well? Truth walks into the cluttered overstuffed closet of your life and organizes the pile of shoes. Folds the laundry and irons the shirts. Then it color coordinates the hang-ables and throws out the trash. Truth is wonderfully easy to digest. Wonderfully easy to understand! It says in James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, [and] easy to be entreated, (easy to be received) full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Who did Paul bow his knees to? Jesus Christ?

On guard!

As my friend Jessica aptly says.

Paul bowed his knees to the Father of Jesus Christ. The next verse goes on to say, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named. Is the family named after Jesus Christ? Or God? Christ is the Greek word for anointing with power. Who gives that out? Who anointed Jesus of Nazareth? God did. Jehovah, Elohim, the only being that is all-powerful, omnipotent, all-knowing etc. The guy with the power. Who desires a relationship with you? Go back to the original question, who started it? God did.

We are Christians right. Back when the believers in Acts were first operating this power, the unbelievers called them Christ-ins. The believers were saying we have Christ IN us instead of ON us upon a condition, like the old testament believers. That’s what is different now. Well the name changed over time, as names often do, to Christian.

Why is Paul bowing his knees?

Why is he praying? For the same reason we should pray today. For believers to stand up and be strong.

Stand on truth. Use the words in the Word to stand on. When the devil is messing around in your closet and throwing trash in there, use the truth to clean him out. Error is trash, lies disorganize and rip away our confidence. But the truth makes us free. Stand with me today and be free!
