Ephesians 5:25; Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.
Both loves in this verse are the Greek word Agape, which is the love of God. Click the link above for an amazing document that explains agape before reading on.
Marriage/relationships have to overflow with God’s love. This love is not emotionally based. It is a decision of the will to do what God is telling us to do in every situation. There are four types of love. I taught a seminar on this subject a few months ago. I will be putting that link here tomorrow from www.TerriPorta.com. It explains in detail the amazing differences between God’s love and human loves. It is the only way Christ could have loved you and me –of whom he’d never met– and done what he needed to do. In the garden he emotionally grappled with what was to come. In the end he made a logical decision to agape, and went far beyond his human ability to love. It’s the most powerful thing in the universe and it is God. When emotional love fails, agape walks in and stands in the gap. When emotions judge, criticize and condemn, agape forgives and forgets. Loving your spouse God’s way, is the ideal. It will make your marriage new, dynamic and exciting!
I’ll be posting that seminar as soon as I’m able as a continuation of this post.
Have a great day, loving like you’ve never loved before.
