Have you been on Our Journey through Ephesians?

What You’ve Studied So Far in Ephesians

Today I’d like to look back at the beautiful structure of this amazing book. Ephesians reveals the depth of God’s love for us, how we should walk and soon we’ll cover what it takes to stand on these promises. I’d like to take a look at it from the bigger picture of the 7 Church Epistles.

2 Timothy 3:16; All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for 1) doctrine, 2) for reproof, 3) for correction, for (which is) instruction in righteousness.

Doctrine is the right way to believe. “Reproof” corrects practical error. “Correction” corrects the wrong practices that went on so long they became doctrinal error. The 7 church epistles were always found placed in the order listed below. Though they were not written in this order chronologically God was certainly protecting this treasure of understanding.

The 7 Church Epistles                    3 Profit Patterns of the Epistles

      1. Romans                                 Doctrine
      2. Corinthians                            Reproof
      3. Galatians                                 Correction
      4. Ephesians                            Doctrine
      5. Philippians                             Reproof
      6. Colossians                              Correction
      7. Thessalonians                   Doctrine

1 Corinthians 13:13; And now abideth faith, hope, charity, (love) these three; but the greatest of these [is] charity (love).

Ephesians is the greatest revelation given to man because it is the right way to believe/doctrine truth about the Mystery and that anyone could be born again.

The 7 Church Epistles       Profit Patterns     3 Abiding Doctrinal Truths

    1. Romans                         Doctrine              Faith/Believing
    2. Corinthians                    Reproof                   Reproves Practical Error
    3. Galatians                         Correction              Corrects Doctrinal Error
    4. Ephesians                    Doctrine               Love/Agape
    5. Philippians                     Reproof                   Reproves Practical Error
    6. Colossians                       Correction              Corrects Doctrinal Error
    7. Thessalonians           Doctrine               Hope – Jesus Christ returns.

All of the books are “for instruction in righteousness” as it says in 2 Timothy 3:16. this is intruction in right living. Yes, you may have reproof and correction but you also have the right way to live according to God’s Word.

Ephesians has 3 Themes built into it helping us understand God’s Love.

 Sit                                                  Walk                                    Stand

Eph. 1:1-3:21                                Eph. 4:1-6:9                        Eph 6:10-24

Eph. 2:6 Seated in heavens     Eph. 5:2 Walk in Love…  Eph. 6:12; Stand therefore….

There are 5 Areas of our Walk each depicts the Unity of God’s direction and Love

God

Fellow Believers

Marriage

Children/Family

Work

As you looked over the above information did you start to see a pattern? Did you spot the love and unity there? Ephesians is doctrine and right believing. Look at the beautiful layers of information. God set it up for our benefit. Now we are entering the last section of Ephesians. Our next verse will cover the first verse of our “Stand” and I’m more excited than ever because of all the learning that has brought us here.

**NOTE TO THE LEADERS***If you are teaching another Supporting Godly Women’s group or would like to start one up and join us, this is great Bible study topic. I’ve laid the outline here of how Ephesians fits together like a hand in a glove. You are more than welcome to use it in your small groups. If you have any questions on the information presented here let me know.

What’s coming next?

At the end of Ephesians I will have the opportunity to start a new book of the Bible or expound on other subjects. What would you like to see covered? Are there some burning questions in your mind about the Bible? Is there a book in the seven church epistles that sticks out? In the coming weeks we’ll finish Ephesians but not without a little celebration. If you have kept up in this Bible study from the beginning, or caught up to us at this point, you will also graduate from the first ever SGW Ephesians Class Study. I think you all deserve applause so let me know if that’s you. Thank you all for coming along in this astounding journey! See you tomorrow.

Here is one of my new favorite songs. Enjoy!
