A Recipe for Hero with a Side of Courage

Why Do Some People Stay Steady No Matter the Odds?

The determination I saw after the tornadoes recently ripped across the south, amazed me! An older couple lived right next door to a highschool. The highschool was a heap of rubble and their house was missing half the roof and most of the contents from inside. The man explained what happened during the storm, as his wife stood calmly beside him. The journalist asked some very pointed questions, meant to induce a nervous break down I’m sure, but to none effect. The couple smiled at his fumbling attempts and said they were thankful to God to be alive, and for all the wonderful people around them. Most people would stay, try to get into view of the camera more, but they disappeared as soon as he turned back to the camera. They were more concerned with how to help all the kids at the school and the community than fix their home, of which I’m sure they’d get to eventually.

How do we stay so strong in spite of it all?

Have you ever heard the phrase, when the pressure is on, give? Why does giving make any difference?

When you give, first you have your eyes on others and God, not yourself. Second, giving requires you believing God to meet the needs of others. Believing is an action word. God honors believing with pouring on more blessing such as love. That’s why when we give, we receive. Third, this continuous action stumps the Devil’s plan to keep you unmotivated, powerless, and defeated. Look at this wonderful next section of verses from Thessalonians.

1 Thessalonians 3:12-13; And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all [men], even as we [do] toward you: To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

Here’s My Sweetie Cookin’ Up Some Love!

It’s almost like a recipe huh?

1 cup of the Lord’s increasing your love towards other believers. (You give, He increases your love, you give, He increases your love and so on.)

1/2 cup of His abounding your love towards all men. (More love, more giving.)

Mix it just like Paul showed you how.

1 Tablespoon of the rising element straight from God’s pantry to steady and establish you.

Then cook on high, when you come out God has made you unblameable in holiness.

What does this produce?

A Hero with strength that moves Mountains!

God knows the recipe for you too! And He is eager to show you how to rise strong and steady above the crowd. That is the recipe of an extraordinary hero!

God bless you today!
