Can Everyday Be a New Day with GOD?
I think we should look over the first new day for our generation. Jesus Christ is the first fruits of them which slept/died. (As it says in 1 Corinthians 15:20) If he did not die than he would not be the first fruits. The hope of his return fuels our lives! It injects our sad moments with light and truth! When all else looks like it will fail, this one fact has the encouragement power of a hundred great moments.
But what about those who don’t believe?
On that day that Jesus died on the cross all creation sank into darkness.
“And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.” Luke 23:44-45
That day for unbelievers was no different from any other day. They went around, living their lives, carrying water, operating their businesses etc. Yet the light was gone from the world.
It also says in 1 Corinthians 15 that if Jesus would have stayed dead then our sins would never have been forgiven. Mankind would have stayed in an unredeemed state. (Vs. 17; and ye are yet in your sins) The Devil tasted victory that day!
Here’s my thing. All the Devil needed to do was kill Jesus, that would’ve been a humane act. But no, the Devil took it further and tortured him for hours. He beat him, taunted him and rubbed his nose in it. Do you think he’d do any less to us if given the chance? The devil is our enemy. And Jesus, well he had defied the Devil’s authority, cast out his minions and healed his sick and dying. Jesus Christ went so far as to raise a man from the clenching grasp of the Devil’s best friend, Death! Of course the Devil was ticked! The cross was Jesus Christ’s darkest hours, and the Devil’s only hint of victory. The Devil remembered God’s words back Genesis.
Genesis 3:15; And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed (your children, Devil) and her seed (and the Messiah); it (the Messiah) shall bruise thy head, (your authority) and thou shalt bruise his heel (nothing but a momentary pain).
Then three days later Christ Jesus, victorious conquerer, was raised from the dead to shake his fist in the Devil’s smirking face. The light of God’s salvation penetrated this dark world! All creation rejoiced!
Yet still, the natural man sits in their own ignorance. Do some of them choose to stay in the darkness?
John 3:19; And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
Yes, but do we? Day in and day out, do we have to grind around in the darkness? We are children of the light and have God’s Word as a lamp at our feet.
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. (1 Thessalonians 5:4-5)
We are of the light! The light of the victory in Jesus Christ. The darkness is not going to overtake us as a thief! We shine, as lights among men. We are the sweet savour of God’s knowledge in everyplace!
We are different now. Because of the hope, and what Christ did we can say in triumph, “O death, where [is] thy sting? O grave, where [is] thy victory?” 1 Cor. 15:55.
Is today a new day with God?
“This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” 1 John 1:5
“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now [are ye] light in the Lord: walk as children of light.” Ephesians 5:8
Can everyday be a new day? Yes, when we are walking in the light.
Embrace God’s light, and walk tall because today is absolutely a NEW day.
God Bless You!
