How to: Handle Collateral Damage of the Heart.

For four hundred years not one light was found in the world. Philosophers, religious leaders, and kings, wondered if there would ever be hope again. When you only live to be in your 30’s, four hundred years is many generations of your people. When or if it came he would be a king and he would rise and take his place on Israel’s throne.

One night, on a field, the lowliest of people of all, the shepherds, stood watch. Yes, they tended their wooly charges, but they also watched the night sky. A sky many of us never see. City lights didn’t dim it, airplanes didn’t disturb the peppering of white shimmering dots. The stars blazed with glory all their own, a silent symphony casting shooting lights across the shepherd’s view in brilliant splendor. It was just another night, like any other night. Until…

“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this [shall be] a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Luke 2:8-14

Do you mind if I tell you that God loves you? Can I also proclaim that He is love? Your heart was never meant to feel like a used pinata. So how do you fix it?

You can’t.

Not by yourself.

You can light as many candles, and meditate as long as you like. You can pay thousands of dollars on the best psychologists and counselors. You can exercise, try to out-run it, cover it, paint it, shine pretty lights on it and decorate it with pretty gems, yet still it is the ugly face of collateral damage of a broken heart.

Spiritual fiery darts cause spiritual collateral damage. Spiritual collateral damage flows into five-senses collateral damage. It can rack and ruin your world with division, strife and envy. There’s no way our five-senses and remedies of this world can heal the root cause and spiritual infirmity.

Sorry. It’s just not possible.

What you need, is spiritual weaponry.

You need a weapon that heals, as well as defends you from other strikes.

We tend to think our wounds are greater than what God can heal. We think our situation is greater than what God can defend. What we don’t understand is our freewill is stepping on the mighty hand of God. If we believe He can’t help us we’re wrong, but how can He change your mind? We won’t even give Him a chance. Believing equals receiving.

“And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” Matthew 17:20

All you need to do is believe that God is able and He is willing to act on your behalf. But it is not your tiny believing that moves the mountains. God is love, why would He expect you to produce all that? He just asks you to believe HE is able to do it. God’s willingness always equals His ability.

“He (Abraham) staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what He (God) had promised, He (God) was able also to perform.” Romans 4:20-21

Be fully persuaded that what God has already willingly promised you He is also able to perform it in your life.

“Behold, I [am] the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?” Jeremiah 32:27

What has He promised you concerning your spiritual health?

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 1:2

“Soul,” in this verse is your breath-life. Do you continue to breathe?

“Okay Terri you’re starting to tick me off! How am I supposed to heal!?”

“Be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep (guard) your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:6-7

“Sniff* But Terri, I really want to think about this, and get through it– and heal up!”

Okay, here’s the very next verse;

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.Phil. 4:8

But in everything by prayer and supplication. There are two ways to pray. If you are only doing one way you are only doing part of this verse. One way is with our understanding. The other is well, you read it…

“What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.” 1 Corinthians 14:15

“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” Romans 8:26

Why would God list two ways to pray, if He didn’t want us to do it? We either believe the whole Word of God or none at all. If I pray in the spirit, I’m activating spiritual weaponry. We have to fight spirit with Spirit. God gave us that gift when He poured it out on the day of Pentecost, after He raised Jesus Christ from the dead. God has not left us without the tools to win.

Now thanks [be] unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.” 2 Corinthians 2:14

You are loved and cared for by a big, BIG God.

God bless you today!
