5 Tips for Overcoming Mental Pressure

Do you feel an increase of mental pressure in your home, in your work, or in your mind? Our adversary has two tactics. There is a wave of pleasure; temptation, luring, wonderful (fake) offers that sound so good. Then after that wave comes the pressure; tribulation, sickness, fiery darts, money troubles, social issues, lies about your worthiness etc. Both are easy to spot, once you have these 5 tips on overcoming mental pressure down.

The success of the adversary lies in the secrecy of his moves. If his moves are exposed, believers like you and me will resist and defeat him. Therefore, he hides behind layers of error and powerless causes hoping any distraction will divert YOU (power-filled child of God) from really knowing what he’s up to. I don’t like that. I like knowing what I’m up against. So the first tip is;

1. Realize You’re in a Spiritual Contest – If you are born-again, the devil cannot take away your Holy Spirit, but he can keep you from earning rewards or helping others see what he really is.

“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” 2 Corinthians 4:4. He’s the god of this world and literally runs the systems of error here.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].” Ephesians 6:12. He is ruling the darkness of this world meant to thwart our happiness and general ease of life.

2. Believe That You Have More Power than The Adversary –  The devil would like to intimidate you like a roaring lion and tell you defeating him is impossible but what is the truth?

“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4:4

Casting all your care upon Him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered (endured because we live on this world) a while, make you perfect, (mature) stablish, (established) strengthen, settle [you]. 1 Peter 5:7-10. What a tremendous promise!

3. Build Your Believing Little by Little – Trust builds confidence and confidence builds faith. How do you build faith? By getting results in your prayer life. How do you do that?

Trust God to direct you steps. “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

When choosing whom to believe, believe God. “[It is] better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.” Psalms 118:8

Build faith by what? “So then faith come by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” Romans 10:17. Is it by hearing Time, People Magazine, the tabloids, your neighbors gossip blog? No, the Word of God.

4. Realize God Wants Your Mental Peace – God knows the devil’s tactics too. So He gave us a way to combat that pressure.

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it].” 1 Corinthians 10:13

“Be careful (anxious, worried) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6&7. This is a promise with a part A; which is your part, and a part B, God’s part.

5. You Are a Super Over-Comer through God!

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation (Grk: thlipsis = Mental Pressures), or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, (in the Old Testament) For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. (But now) Nay, (NOOOO) in all these things we are more than conquerors (Super Conquerors!) through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:34-37

Here is the verse that ties all of this blog together and look at the tremendous promise at the end! WOW! What joy! What encouragement!

“In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him. Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations (thlipsis= mental pressures) for you, which is your glory… (vs. 16) That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man, (Fight Spirit with spirit, speak in tongues!) That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what [is] the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, (the annointing of God’s gift of holy spirit) which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. ” Ephesians 3:13, 16-20

God is able to do exceeding, abundantly, above ALL we can ask OR THINK! WOW! That is huge. Believe it with me today!

God Bless YOU!

  1. I love when you said God wants our mental peace. This is so true. I remember a time when I was in church praising the Lord in the physical but my inner spirit was in chaos due to worrying. I now learn to calm the inner part of me and the outside is at peace too. He wants all of us to be in alignment.

    1. What a tremendous sentiment! Every action begins with an decision, every decisions begin with a thought. If we get good at thinking about what we’re thinking about, and bringing those first thoughts to a stand still with the Word, we are living vessels of God’s power and Love. The definition of the renewed mind is putting the Word in mind and acting accordingly. That’s exactly what you did. The renewed mind is the key to power. I’m so happy you commented on that. Thank you.
