Do you ever wonder if you’re ever really good enough? Are we smart enough, pretty enough, talented enough or skilled enough in today’s world? Do you ever wonder if you’re really okay?
God has revealed the answer to this age-old question and I’d like to explore that with you today.
First, there are 2 kinds of knowledge.
One is world knowledge the other is spiritual knowledge. Our five senses; smelling, tasting, touching, hearing and seeing, is called in the Bible, the natural man, or earthy, or world knowledge because it is made from the dust of the ground. The natural man is only equipped to analyze what it receives by way of the five senses and things in this world, world knowledge. This is a huge limitation! Almost a handicap. God knew this! That is why he created Adam and Eve in his image. God is Holy, God is Spirit. He formed our bodies of the dust, then breathed soul life into that body, then created spirit within them, in His image, completing the package of body-soul-and spirit. When Adam and Eve got kicked out of the garden, their natural bodies didn’t die. What happened? They lost their Holy Spirit.
“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians 2:14
They were body and soul, and no longer had direct access to God through the Holy Spirit, or else why would God, who knows all things, say this to them, “And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him,Where [art] thou?” Genesis 3:9. Of course God knew where they were, He was making a point. Their decision to disobey made them lose their Holy Spirit. They were naked before Him with out it. It says in Ephesians, that we put on the armor of whole armor of God, this is the way of clothing ourselves with God’s Spirit, not physical leaves and trees. (Figure of Speech there, for any interested in more study.)
It says above, that natural man cannot “know” the things of the spirit. “Know” there is the greek word, ginōskō, which means knowing by experiencing. This is a law! The only things your body and soul can know by experience is world knowledge and guess what happens to all of that eventually?
“Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.” Matthew 13:31
“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” 2 Peter 3:10
So what do we really know? Aren’t we putting our hopes, our worries, our works, and effort into the wrong thing if it’s all going to pass away? Are you pretty enough? Talented enough? Smart enough? When it comes to God, we’re all just as stupid as the next natural man because:
All Spiritual Knowledge Must be Ascertained by Our Spirit.
It doesn’t have a darn thing to do with what we look like, or our degrees, or our fashion sense. We cannot receive the things of the spirit via our five senses. God is invisible. He is Spirit. So, how do we find out if we’re really okay? Where do we look for our information? We have to look to the things that are permanent, and not the things that will burn up. We have to look at the spiritual knowledge. But first we have to get access to that Spirit by doing one procedure:
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10:9
Then, realize you have all of this, with that one-act of believing:
“Having abolished in his (Jesus’s) flesh (natural body) the enmity, [even] the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain (two) one new man, [so] making peace. (vs. 18) For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. (vs 21) In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.” Ephesians 2:15, 18,21,22
How can you have peace and happiness? Look to the things of the spirit which are eternal and not of this world. Can you put an ounce of love in a test tube? Can you analyze a liter of hope?
“But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4
Yes, we do need a little bread to live, but the hunger for spiritual understanding is sown into the very fiber of our beings. Knowing we’re really okay, can only come from knowing God. We hunger for God, we hunger for His answers, His truth. The Word of God is the Will of God. When we do the will of God, we know (ginosko=know by experiencing) His spiritual reality which is love.
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous (hard to do) For whatsoever is born of God overcometh (nikaō- to be victorious over) the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith.” 1 John 5:2-4
You are not only okay–but you are a overcomer!
God bless you today!
