Have you ever had a diamond ring that you thought was real, only to find out it’s a fake gem? What if you continued defending its authenticity? What if no one had asked you where you got it, so you got used to thinking it was real? Would that make it a diamond? Under examination zirconium is easily spotted, but at a passing glance…who would ever tell? Why am I asking? What’s the point here Terri? Does it even matter?
Nope…unless it’s under pressure.
You see the devil is a master at producing the counterfeit. He weaves it into bits of the truth, like a ring maker putting a Z-Diamond on a 14 carat gold ring. It accompanies a piece of truth and it sounds real, so what’s the big deal. Does it matter? Only under pressure. But here’s the thing. The devil has two tactics, pleasure and pressure. Is there going to be pressure in your life? You tell me? Are there going to be temptations in life for pleasure? You tell me? It’s like he says, “Here puppy, puppy, puppy!” Then blamo hits you over the head with a bat just for the fun of it. Real keeper huh. John 8:44 calls him “the Father of Lies.” Ephesians 4:13 calls him, “The evil one.” Acts 13:10 calls him the accuser – “slanders and defames.” Ephesians 4:22 calls him, “the Deceiver.” I call him the counterfeit. Why? Because all he wants to do is trick you and get you to worship him like you would the One true God.
Folks, we have a real enemy with a real agenda. To ignore him; makes us foolish. To fear him; makes us run right into his trap. To be flippant or blase’ about him; is walking in pride and false confidence. To be fascinated by his medium and immersing yourself in his sicknesses is to love a second-rate cause that sucks the joy from all God’s goodness and purity in your life.
On the other hand, we, strong and wise believers, need a healthy understanding and respect for our enemy. Don’t run. Don’t hide. Don’t disguise yourself. Just stand. Stand in the truth in your life. When the wind howls around you, with new fangled doctrine…stand firm. When your friends think to protect you, and pull you into hiding…stand firm. When people shout, argue, accuse, and try to pick a fight…stand firm. The truth is the truth. It needs no defense. We stand on IT not the other way around. And it is what the counterfeit doesn’t want you to see.
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32.
The truth “shall make” you free. It doesn’t say– set you free– it says make you free. “Make” implies your action and investment of believing. Hold fast to the truth. What is truth? Where do I find it?
“Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou [art] the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.” Psalms 25:5
God never wastes your time with lies. Here’s some truth about you. 🙂 Just sit back and breathe this all in.
“God [is] our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.” Psalms 46:1-2
“Blessed [is] the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful, But his delight [is] in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Psalms 1:1-3
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26;3
“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that [there shall] not [be room] enough [to receive it].” Malachi 3:10
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11
“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:” Romans 1:20
“Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:32
“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.” Eph. 1:4-5
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Tim. 1:7
I could go on like this all day. But for now, know that you are loved and cherished by the Master of Truth. He put His Spirit of Truth inside you. The more exposure you have to the Word of Truth the more you’ll discern truth from the counterfeit.
God Bless You Today!
