Perspective is the view-point from which the viewer sees the outside world. On canvas, a painter adds dimensions giving the illusion of height, depth, and width to a painting. Another definition of perspective is; the true understanding of the relative importance of things; a sense of proportion. I’ve heard it called a point of view or POV. There are plenty of perspectives in this tangled and crowded universe of perplexities, but the one I get most excited about is God’s. How do we get God’s perspective? First we must know what it is, or at least where it comes from.
God is…well…He’s omniscient! In Latin that means, knowing everything. By everything I mean, e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g! He knows about secret sins. He knows when I’m entertaining a thought process that won’t do me any good. He knows the heart and thoughts of all of humanity, but He also knows my little hangups. It says in Numbers 23:19 that “God is not a man that He should lie, neither the son of man that He should repent…” He knows everything and doesn’t lie. Many people who have a big world view lie for their own agendas; not all, but God promises that He never does. What’s the point of having all that wisdom and perspective if you’re going to lie about it? So at least we know that God tells the truth. He also knows exactly the right thing that you need to hear at exactly the right time. Do you know how powerful that is? How many people do you know that could use a minuet change in their perspective? How about a big change? Would it transform their lives? Is that a powerful thing to have?
Yes. Yes. And absolutely YES!
Guess what? God gave perspective as a perk in our gift of holy spirit. The manifestations of Holy Spirit are simply the “bringing out” of the reality that lives inside us. The outward manifesting of the inner man. There are nine of these outward manifestations. Among the nine there is miracles, healing, faith, discerning of spirits. These are powerful, wouldn’t you say? It says in verse 1 of first Cor. 12 that God would not have us to be ignorant about spiritual (Grk=pneumatikos, which means things of the spirit) matters. God only asks us a few times not to be stupid about things, and this is one of the great big ones. Two of the nine operations listed are; word of wisdom and word of knowledge. They seem like a harmless pair of doves sitting next to the power rod of believing or the mountain moving force of miracles, but I assure you; these two have the same power potential as the other nine. Did a miracle raise Jesus Christ from the dead? Did a miracle part the Red Sea? Did a healing restore a man’s ankle bones in Acts? Wow! What is the power of perspective? Does the understanding of Romans 10:9-10 give a spiritual dead man spiritual life? Is that powerful? It can change the world.
What is word of wisdom and word of knowledge?
Word of Knowledge; is your operation of the God-given ability to receive from God by revelation certain truths or facts concerning any situation about which it is impossible for you to know by your five senses.
Word of Wisdom; is your operation of the God-given ability to receive from God, by revelation instruction as to what action to take in a specific situation after the facts or truths have been ascertained by word of knowledge. Word of wisdom is word of knowledge applied.
Another way of looking at it is Word of knowledge is; What is going on Father? Word of wisdom is; God if you were me, what would you do in this situation? Like the painter using his brushes on a canvas, these two operations add depth, height, width and one more dimension. Look at the following verses.
“That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what [is] the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.” Eph. 3:16-20
What strengthens our spiritual inner man? The operation of the spiritual inner man. That’s how you’d strengthen your physical body right? The stronger you get in your inner man by doing all nine operations of the gift of holy spirit, all the time, the more you’ll be able to comprehend what? What is God? Love right. We’ll comprehend the breadth, the length, the depth AND the height of the love of Christ. (That’s four dimensions there.) This is like getting the most powerful perspective in the universe hand-delivered to your mind! Is that powerful? If I knew that perspective surely I’d see the things that are exceeding, abundantly, above all I could ask or think according to the power rod of God, who is working within me to manifest outwardly His love. Is this a good thing to know? Wouldn’t I, if I were the devil, try to hide this knowledge?
“Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, [and] there is nothing too hard for thee: Thou shewest loving kindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, [is] his name, Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes [are] open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” Jeremiah 32:17-19
God bless you today!
