Buck and Sally sat down on the mall bench, enjoying a rest after their rigourous walk. They smiled at people walking by, until Betty and her walking partner Susan rounded the corner. Sally tensed. Betty had already lost ten more pounds than Sally and looked great. Oh they waved, a friendly sort of wave in passing, but Sally couldn’t help comparing their size. She wondered what Betty was doing to lose those extra pounds. “Come on Buck, let’s keep walking.”
“I thought we were done.” He huffed to a standing position as she pulled on his hand.
“We’re not done until I look like that!” she glared at her husband.
“You don’t need to look like that, I love you just the way you are.” He rolled his eyes and trudged off behind her.
Meanwhile, Betty watched the couple from her periphery vision, then leaned over to Susan. “Just look at them Susan. They are a couple of old curmudgeons with each other.” A tear sprang to her eye.
“It’s okay Betty, they don’t realize what they have.”
“Thank you for coming out today, I know it was hard.” Betty whispered and patted her friend’s shoulder.
“Sitting around the house is no solution. Paul would’ve wanted me to stay active.”
“Yes, and Sam would’ve too. Let’s take another round by JCPenny’s.”
“Okay, I hear they have a new male maniquin that looks real. I brought my camera. My daughter asked when I’ll be dating again. I thought I’d get a shot of the lucky fella.” They grabbed each other’s hands and sped up just a little more.
God knows the heart of every man, woman and child. He loves loving them. He loves you, for who you are and He has solutions and comfort for everything you’re dealing with at this very moment. Living the abundant life depends directly on the promises and believing you manifest in your own life. Focus your time and energy and what you can do to believe God bigger in every area. Then when a heart in-need passes by, you’ll be ready to give and love instead of compare.
“For we dare not make ourselves of the number , or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise .” 2 Corinthians 10:12
