I never, okay, not never, but hardly ever get involved with politics. My husband knows that. But yesterday, I read an interview quoting a politician and my blood boiled. It was so subtle, so manipulative, so….argh! Yep, blood still boiling over it. I’m not going to get into who or about what because this blog is about loving God and exposing the tactics of the enemy. Politicians are not the enemy, the devil is.
This politician offered an ultimatum and he is high enough up to get everyone’s attention. It sounded like this; Agree with us by the new year…or else. (I’m paraphrasing.) Then he told his party, don’t worry they’ll cave and agree with us, they know what’s at stake. So arrogant!! And such a bully. Can you imagine the devil telling his evil angels, don’t worry Jesus Christ will cave just like Adam and Eve did. I’ll go tell him to cave or else. Then tempting him in the wilderness for forty days. Whoa! It leads me to ask…
Or else what?
Jesus Christ was victorious in that wilderness. And that was just the beginning of the butt kicking for the devil. When God raised him from the dead, he won forever. Now we have our guy folks! We have our champion! We can point to him and say, “Jesus Christ crushed you into the dirt, then he gave me the same power to defeat you too, devil! Or ELSE WHAT?”
Threats, ultimatums, and power plays don’t do the devil any favors in a power-filled believer’s life. Why? It ticks us off! That’s like waking a sleeping giant. When a believer finally gets to the point of taking back their life, they are usually past the point of caring how pretty it is. The devil is a spiritual bully. Not to mention that we are obeying God, not men. When He says pray, we pray with power. Look what Peter asked for.
“And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.” Acts 4:30-31
Why did they have boldness? Because they prayed for it. Alone they’d be quaking in their sandals, and for good reason, but with God, through the power of Jesus Christ and the authority HE gave us…no way. We always tell a bully, “Go pick on someone your own size.” Jesus Christ made it so we’re bigger than the bully. He made us super conquerors. Could we do it alone? No. We’d get thrashed around in the waves at the kiddy pool. But with God we can say this,
“What shall we then say to these things? If God [be] for us, who [can be] against us?” Romans 8:31
Be encouraged because no matter how many people give you ultimatums, God never will–in fact He gave you power. We always negotiate from a place of power. We no longer need to be weak and defenseless. Pray for boldness and manifest power!
God bless you today!
