“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus:” Ephesians 2:4-6
Isn’t that the most life-changing section of the Word? Today God is real. He has our table setting placed and waiting for us. He is expecting us when Jesus Christ brings us home. I am so excited for that moment aren’t you. I imagine He’ll have a fanfare and trumpets to announce our entrances. It will be so exciting. That day is our future. It’s the loving truth of our destiny. This is to come, but what about now? What about later when my children’s children walk the earth?
“That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in [his] kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” vs. 7-9
The Word is as true today as it will be a thousand years from now. I could not have affected my children’s, children’s children in ages to come with my fleshly works as powerfully as God has with His spiritual redemption. My works cease the day I die, but God continues on. Wow! The grace God shows me, will be for my children also. How loving! How miraculous! How could this be?
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Wherefore remember, that ye [being] in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:” vs. 10-12
God not only saved us through His son Christ Jesus, He assigned His good works to us. It’s available to live everyday doing those works for God. Works that will affect our eternal future. Not temporary fleshly works, eternal works. We have a bigger hope, a bigger assignment. How does God let us in on these spiritual works?
“But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition [between us]; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, [even] the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, [so] making peace;” vs. 13-15
First, out of love, God had to make peace with the fleshly man and the spiritual man. To do that Jesus Christ had to break down the partition between us. That partition is called sin. Then He could make peace.
“And (he, Jesus Christ) came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.” vs. 17-18
Wow! Access explains how we learn about everything from God. He gave us access 24×7 to Him via the gift of holy spirit. Are you excited yet? I am. In the ages to come the future generations of Terri Porta will also have that access. It will be there for whenever they need it. Now that is a generational blessing, don’t you think?
We have hope for our future, which is our inheritance, we have the gift of holy spirit, which is our access to God 24×7 and we have God’s love for us, which is the reason behind it all.
Thank God for Jesus Christ!
God bless you today!
