Are You Making Peace With Your Body

Do you have a have a terrible self-image? Do you struggle with eating a meal under the right amount of calories or exercising to stay thin and trim? This daily drama has a harmful effect on our peace of mind. It adds, for many, guilt complexes, envy, strife, confusion and much worse. So when I first thought the phrase, “Make Peace With Your Body.” I thought surely we’ll be talking about those folks this morning. Lol! Boy, do I have a lot to learn about God.

Proverbs 3 5 6-001

He took me over to Ephesians 2: 11-18

11. “That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh (near) by the blood of Christ.

For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition [between us];

Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, [even] the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain (two) one new man, [so] making peace;

And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

18. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.”

Jesus Christ is the one who already made peace for our body. Here’s how. He took out the wedge, or enmity, that kept us from having and keeping the gift of holy spirit or as this verse calls it the “covenants of promise”. Wow! So if Jesus Christ already gave us access to God and made peace with our bodies, why are we making war with it everyday?

What is God? God is Holy and God is Spirit. What did He create inside Adam’s body? You got it. Holy Spirit. When Adam  and Eve got kicked out of Eden they lost the gift of Holy Spirit from God because of the condition on it was when they sinned they lost the spirit. Jesus Christ took away the condition or enmity by making it permanent. The only difference is now when we sin, we are “out of fellowship” with God but we’ll forever have His Spirit inside us.

Here’s the point. We have access to God everyday, every minute, and on every subject of our lives. He wants us to improve and hold the abundant life in each of these areas. Is our physical health and well-being one of those areas? Yes! God and Jesus Christ made the greatest peace with our flesh through the salvation plan. But we have to take time everyday and continue what they started by using that access and blessing our bodies. How?

By asking, “What is available for total health and prosperity in my physical body?” or ask;  “God if you were me what would you do to bless my physical body today?”

He may say go for a walk, go for a run, or eat a balanced dinner. He may say to pray for the health of your heart or even do a healing (another operation of the gift of holy spirit). When you join the peace of salvation and access to God with every area of your life, you will have immediate benefits.

God Bless You Today!

  1. So many of us struggle with this. Daily. Hourly. You are right, it is a distraction from our calling. I know for me, I get angry to think that until I was diagnosed with a disease that makes you gain weight I was thin and healthy. Who am I angry at? I don’t know. And the more angry I get the less likely I am to get healthy. It’s all tied in together isn’t it? This is a great word and very well thought out on your part. Thanks so much. Jan
