The United States shook yesterday as two bombs blasted in Boston, inside our borders. “Terror” ripped through the headlines. A reminder to stay on guard that made us all patriots again. The explosions carried away three innocent victims from this life and a hundred and thirty more grappled for explanations as to their wounds. Many of these people will forever ask, why? As crime around the country seems to be on a rampage, with four dead from violence over the weekend in Chicago alone,we turn to our president. Where is his heart on the matter? This is his country. Surely he will want to reassure us. Then, like clock-work, our clean cut president took the podium with words that did not match the crisp orator. I watched his mouth move, listened to the tone of his voice and wondered, is he, instead, reading a tedious day’s weather report?
Living so far from the east coast I hear of these things and shudder. Who is behind all this? In the years of Obama’s presidency more flooding, more storms, more horrific events with the shooting of Sandy Nook children have taken our battered nation to it’s knees than in my memory. When will someone report on the truth? More unemployment, more injustice in the medical industry, more taxes, more national debt and all is swept cleanly under the rug as smoothly as he read the script in front of him yesterday. How come I don’t believe his claims for justice? How come I instead think Americans will suffer for this instead? What is God doing about all of this?
As many of you who know me know, I never talk politics on this blog. I rarely talk about them at all. I don’t believe in picking on people. I want to build them up, show them how to overcome and give the tools for success. I believe that this is not a battle of flesh and blood. But sometimes we must all look to our leaders and ask, why?
“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” Proverbs 29:2
This is not a republican or democrat statement. This is just a statement. Our country needs spiritual warriors who will rise up and learn to operate the gift God gave them. Without people willing to faithfully humble themselves, this country and it’s leaders will continue to shake as it did yesterday.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” 1 Peter 5:8
It is time for change.
God bless you today.
