We’ve all been told that we shouldn’t bite the hand that feeds us. I couldn’t get that phrase out of my head last night as I thought about the debates over the Obama care act. I try to never get political in this blog because I don’t feel this is a platform for that venue. But I would like to point out one perspective.
If we don’t bite the hand that feeds us, we may never see the other hand holding the keys to our cage door.
Have you ever noticed that the more we depend on the government to supply our need, the less we depend on God to do it. Why do we need faith, if we have the government? Faith or believing is like a muscle that gets stronger as we use it. We don’t start with faith. We start with trust in God, which leads us to having confidence in Him, then we gain pure faith loaded with high-octane energy and focus. To gain faith, we must put ourselves in the place to believe God to meet our need. It takes baby steps of trust. How can we start this process if someone else supplies all our needs.
How can we see our own potential and limitless ability to believe God, if we settle for handouts? What if I said, anything you do, according to God’s guidance, you will succeed at WITH faith. It’s true. Faith is that powerful. Why would we willingly throw out that kind of power? Fear is the opposite of faith. Where faith empowers a person and makes them bold, industrious and strong, fear holds them back, makes them hesitate, timid and weak. Fear leads to unbelief.
With faith, we depend wholly on the direction and guidance of the abundant life-giving, life-blessing Father.
That is why we must understand that this is a spiritual contest that is pulling large amounts of untrained, young believers into unbelief. There are few people out there speaking the truth in love and being heard! Fight for your right to believe God. Fight for your faith and trust and confidence. Voice your opinions. God knows just the thing to say to each person you talk to. Our country was founded on strong, opinionated people who refused to allow someone else to dictate their beliefs. Today we hear plenty of opinions, but they promote their UNbeliefs. Our country’s founders left their homes to come here because of pressure, but the devil has two tactics. Pressure AND pleasure. Be cautious when things look too good to be true. Most likely it is.
“And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” Matthew 21:22
We have to be the ones praying and believing, then we shall receive. This is a principle. But if we don’t even ask, how can we do the rest?
“But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered (the Greek for suffered is paschō, which means to be affected or have been affected, to feel, have a sensible experience) a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.” 1 Peter 5:10
When we think of suffering, we think of being a victim. That is the opposite of this word. Trust builds confidence which in turn builds faith. This process takes time but we become established, strengthened and settled in it. This suffering is the opposite of being lazy and idle. This is growing through life lessons with God that bulk up your faith. You were going to live in this moment and this day and this life anyway, why not trust God and allow Him to make it the best it can be? He needs your participation. He needs you to say yes and decide to trust Him with the little things first. God is still in the miracle business, but now He has limited Himself to each individual believer. Why? Because He wants to build a relationship with each individual believer. How COOL is that?
LET FAITH SHIELD YOU from the devil’s fiery darts such as; you’re going to get sick and need us to take care of you.
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;” Ephesians 6:10-18
God bless you today!
