Do you know what success is, generally speaking? Is it having all the money you need? Or power? Is it checking things off your bucket list? Is it having a happy family?
Everyone seems to have a different idea of what it is. One thing most of us agree on is, success is not a shallow, shady sabotage or a sappy, salacious scandal. These S’s do not give us true success, though Saturday night specials on prime time beg to differ. We believers know the one true God. He prioritizes our sass and gives us success through servitude and sapience.
Okay, I am just being silly with all these scattered S’s. I’m no scholar in the science of S’s or successes. I just know the guy who is. The one who gave out salvation. So let’s see what He has to say.
Our first “S” of success is;
We must develop a keen sense of spiritual awareness. How do we do that? Have you ever heard the phrase, people who do hair, see hair. People who immerse themselves in a field of interest begin to have a widened awareness of that interest. For instance when I bought my first car, it was a beautiful 1960 classic Volkswagen Beetle. Over night, the rest of the world had VW Bugs too. They were everywhere, yet I’d never noticed them before. Why had things changed so fast? My perspective changed. My awareness changed. That’s what we need to have spiritually speaking as well.
“Now concerning spiritual gifts (matters), brethren, I would not have you ignorant.” 1 Cor. 12:1
God does not want us ignorant. He wants to open our eyes to the spiritual matters going on in our daily lives.
When I first learned that the devil tricked Adam and Eve out of their dominion and power back in the Garden of Eden and that he is also referred to in 1 Cor. as the “god of this world”, my eyes were opened. The devil has dominion here. Why did Jesus have to fight him so much if he didn’t? It makes so much more sense why there are diseases, famine, poverty, the down trodden, murders and evil in general. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12. This world is infested with the schemes and methodology of satan. Wow! Everywhere I go I take God with me, because Jesus Christ paid for the dominion and power of God for all those who believe. Daily living becomes a smorgasbord of believing opportunities. Daily living with spiritual awareness causes our success because now we can see, (through God’s guidance) what could be a stumbling block, or a snare of the adversaries making. We can leap over the obstacles because we know God is our sufficiency.
The second “S” in success is:
Speaking in Tongues
Speaking in tongues is only one of 9 manifestations or tools God gave us in this gift of Holy Spirit. When you put speaking in tongues in your arsenal on a daily basis along with the other eight you become a spiritual powerhouse. Learn them. Let them change your life.
Here are the 12 benefits listed in the Bible of just speaking in tongues, or praying in the spirit.
- Edification to the believer: 1 Cor. 14:4, Jude 20
- Speak divine secrets to God: 1 Cor. 14:2
- Speak the Wonderful Works of God: Acts 2:11
- Magnify God: Bring Him closer in our spiritual awareness like a magnifying glass. Acts 10:46
- Pray perfectly: Romans 8:26-27
- Give thanks well: 1 Corinthians 14:17
- The Spirit bears witness with our spirit: Romans 8:16
- Knowing you are an heir of God and joint heirs with Christ. Romans 8:17
- Strengthens your inner man: 1 Corinthians 14:4
- A sign to unbelievers: 1 Corinthians 14:22
- Soul rest: Isaiah 28:11-12
- Brings a message from God or for God to the people (when interpreted). 1 Corinthians 14:5,13,27-28 and 1 Cor. 14:18.
Can you see why this is a huge part of our success? Perfect prayer? Soul rest? Magnify God? That is amazing! And all of these happen when you speak in tongues. The last, but not least “S” in success is:
They say that big ships come in over quiet seas. Big revelation comes in to a stayed mind. What is a stayed mind? It is a quiet and renewed mind.
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26:3
A stayed mind is at peace because it trusts in God. How do we learn to trust God? We renew our minds to His Word.
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2
When we prove what is the acceptable and perfect will of God, we prove Him. We prove Him to the world by our walk. This is the greatest definition of success I know.
“And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;” Ephesians 4:23
We stay our mind on the truth. When the storms of life try to knock us around, we understand where they are coming from because of our spiritual awareness, then we use perfect prayer and our knowledge of spiritual matters to combat the negative and then stay our mind on that renewed mind truth. Success is a simple formula really. God laid it out now all we need to do is follow it.
God bless you today!
