Christians should be the most prosperous and the most well rounded individuals in the world.
With the way God laid out promises like Malachi 3:10, how could we go wrong. Lets look at it.
“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be roomenough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts” Malachi 3:10-12
I had a friend who was called to substitute preach at a very poor church. When I say poor, I mean they had sickness, poverty, and disease. The elders told him specifically that they were so poor that they could not take an offering for him, and he was asked not to mention money. (It was a sore subject.) My friend knew this promise in Malachi could change their lives around completely. SO instead of talking about money, he did a whole sermon on giving. You don’t have to be rich to give. He told them about this promise. What’s so special about this promise? Well, its a conditional promise. That means if you do (A) God does (B) and in a true God-style He also does way beyond in His part than what you ever had to do in your part. Let’s look closer at this promise.
“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house,” This is our part. THis is Part (A). We give a tenth of our gross income to where God lays on your heart to give it. Does it have to be a church to qualify? No. Not in God’s book. God knows all the individuals out there with a need, and who are doing His will and work here on earth. It would be naive of us to assume that this was only inside the four walls of a church building. In fact I’ve known some churches doing the will of the god of this world, satan, not God the author of light and love. So this giving, this tithe should be a personal thing, just you and God decide where it should go. Get quiet, then ask. He’s going to let you know either right then, or in a short matter of time. Sometimes giving is as simple as seeing someone’s need and helping them out. It can be a one time gift just for them or it can be continued support. Just make sure you are giving because you are thankful and doing it for the right reasons. We give out of our income and out of our abundance not out of our necessity.
“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly (out of obligation, guilt, annoyance or manipulation), or of necessity (the things you need to survive, your necessity): for God loveth a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7
It’s your job to know why your giving. God is so good to us all the time but I love how He doesn’t just tell us to do something, He also tells us why to do it. In part (B) of Malachi, God tells us why we should bring all our tithes. Look what He promises to do for us.
There are two kinds of rich men, one who has lots of money, and the other who has every need met.
“…and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delight some land, saith the LORD of hosts.” SHEESH! THIS is what God says He’ll do just because we give. How amazing is that. He says “prove me”. What does that mean? Try it out and watch Him come through for you. Is all this a financial gain in return? Well let’s look….
He’s going to pour us out a blessing so big that there will not be room enough in your life to receive it. So that could be financial, but it could also be relationships, friendships, love, mental peace, physical healing. The list goes on and on and on. What do you need? This one sentence alone should make us thankful enough to want to give. But then He, God the maker of the universe goes on to say, “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes.” When the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy you as it says in John 10:10, God says NO. God stands in His way with His mighty hand of protection. God puts up a hedge around you. WOW! OKAY that’s big. Then it says, he shall not destroy the fruits of you ground. That is your industry and productive works. It is the work of your hands, heart, and mind. This is God’s protection as well. Then He gets into the blessing category by doing for you what He says He’ll do in the rest of this verse. Everything God does is for your blessing and or your protection.
Back to my friend who taught that poverty-stricken church how to give. They began giving and he said that in a six month period you’d have thought you were sitting in a different church. People were blessed, protected, and seeing real results from their giving including healing. WOW! What a testimony to what’s available!
My husband has a saying, when the pressure is on GIVE. This is God’s promise, let Him prove Himself to you.
God Bless You Today!
