God never intended for us to live in fear.
“1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. ” Romans 5:1-2
We know Jesus Christ is the reason for our hope. We know he gave us access to the throne room of God Almighty Himself where we can stand, free from sin and without a sense of sin, sickness or guilt. That’s all been done. Our bond has been paid. We are free. Now what? Why do we sometimes feel so alone in our fears?
How do we get our faith to clobber the fear?
Fear is like a pain in your leg that you don’t understand. There’s no blood oozing, bruising or brokenness visable and yet you are in excruciating pain. So when you try to stand on it, you collapse. This is what fear does to our faith. We try to stand on our faith, but we collapse because of this invisible pain.
How do We get rid of fear?
There is a 3 Step Recipe.
- TURN ON THE LIGHT. Light dispels darkeness, everytime and without fail. So…turn on the light!
“What time (In the times) I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise His word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me” Psalms 56:3-4
“But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: He is their strength in time of trouble.” Psalms 37:39
“Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord: trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.” Psalms 37:4-5
“I sought the Lord and He heard me and delivered me from all my fears.” Psalms 34:4
“O Taste and see that the Lord is GOOD: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” Psalms 34:8
“Therefore, my beloved brethern, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 15:58
Sometimes it seems like hard work to overcome fear, but really it’s just changing our mind. We do it all the time about silly subjects, like what’s for dinner, or what to wear. Fear, put in the right perspective, is just as simple to change our mind about. It is however, completely useless to use not-not thinking to overcome fear. We can’t tell ourself, stop being afraid. Or I’m afraid of …. so I need to stop. What are we confessing? That we are afraid. Confession is highly potent. What does Romans 10:10 say about it? “For with the heart man believeth onto righteousness….” The heart is where we believe the fear or faith. “…and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” The mouth can confess unto destruction too. We have control over that don’t we? YES. It’s called freewill baby.
2. Pray about it then get moving. 95% of the Problem is realizing there is a problem. Fear is not of God because God is Love.
“There is no fear in love; but perfect (mature) love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18
Sometimes there are fears in our life that we don’t know about. We should want to eradicate all fear from our life because none of it is from our Father in heaven who loves and protects us. How do we eradicate fear even the sneaky ones? Well, fear’s one purpose is to paralyze you, stop you and make you retreat. So when we trust God and ask Him what to do next, as often as we breathe and think we stay moving in His Will by His guidance, we keep moving. The devil can’t hit a moving target. The world will tell you to stop and analyze the fear. I say, get moving, by God’s direction. After a short while we are so busy moving forward with God’s plans we forgot to sit down and be afraid. Prayer is a two-way conversation. The answers from God on what is next, is next.
3. Gas it Up! We must use spiritual fuel to the spiritual flame. God says in Malachi 3 that He will “rebuke the devour for your sakes”. The devour includes the devil, and all of his plans to keep you trapped in fear. He wants to sabotage your attempts to get out of fear, so gas up with God. What do I mean? Fight fire with fire. The devil is a spirit we must fight spirit with spirit.
Naivity, or being ignorant, is the opposite of maturity, and mature love casts out fear.
“Now concerning (matters of spiritual nature) spiritual
gifts, brethern, I would not have you ignorant.” 1 Corinthians 12:1
“Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devises.” 2 Corinthians 2:11
The Word of God plainly says not to be ignorant. Our power comes from believing God’s word through the authority and power of His son Jesus Christ. This is where the rubber meets the road. I heard a saying once from the mouth of an adolescent teen that cracked me up but it got the point across. He said, “Kick the devil out, he ain’t payin no rent.” You have to take a stand spiritually against fear.
“Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23
We have to guard our heart with all diligence. Why? Because the devil is just as diligent. He doesn’t take a day off. So we shouldn’t either.
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore…” Ephesians 6:12-14
You are more than a conqueror through Him that loves you! I know you can do it because so many others have already done it. And you are never alone when you have God on your side.
God bless you today!
