010: What are the Symptoms of a Lie?

Before we get into the post, I’d like to thank you for reading.

My readers are the smartest in the world!!

marurity-001

That may sound like a hyped up claim, but you who diligently read my blog need to be commended and congratulated! This is not a commercialized breath-mint on the way to heavier reading. THIS is the heavy reading. And YOU! You are dauntless heroes to me! You are beautiful people with sharp, agile minds. You have a hunger for God and a need to really know the truth. Lots of people claim they have the most intelligent of our audiences, but I disagree, on one simple fact.

My readers know how to sniff out a lie.

How did you get that smart? Well, you can’t know the counterfeit without intimately knowing the real thing first. The counterfeit is a lie trying to dress up like the truth. And the most awful thing in the world is being lied to.

What is the first symptom of a lie? Some, even I, would argue, that it is illogical. And yes, lies can be illogical. But the craftier ones are just logical enough to escape notice. They sit so close to truth, they are almost parallel to it. Laying right down beside it but just a few notches below.

When lies this bendy and twisty are out there, how do we find truth?

” 1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;”2 Cor. 4:1

First we don’t give up looking for truth. “We faint not” is a way of saying we know what we’re up against so we just keep pressing forward. Let’s keep reading.

“2 But have renounced (speak out against) the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.” vs 2

Yes, we know that there are people out there mishandling the word. They do it for their egos, their own pride and puffing up. But heroes speak out against dishonesty. A  hero is a champion of others, they are self-less, not even thinking of how it makes them look.  They know their work will save themselves as well as countless others. They are no better than anyone else, they just hate being lied to. This hero stays pure in the sight of God because they know in the end, He’s the only judge and jury that matter. A hero doesn’t need a cheerleader. They don’t need a press release. They don’t even need a pat on the back. Those things are luxuries. It’s that “sight of God” thing that motivates them. It’s the love of making God’s day that moves them. A hero knows that without the knowledge of the truth, they’d be lost in the darkness.

“3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” 2 Corinthians 4:1-4 (KJV)

How can one sniff out a lie that….that….well…disguised? Well, I hate to tell you this, but we’ve all been lied to. We’re probably operating on a lie somewhere in our believing right now. The devil is the Father of Lies after-all. He designed this world to motivate you with fear and lies.

Brush with this toothpaste so you don’t get cavities.

Drive this blah, blah, model, make and brand of car or your wife/husband will not think you’re sexy enough and leave you for a younger model.

Go to this university, or people will not give you a high-paying job.

Are any of these complete and utter lies sounding familiar? I guarantee that you are walking around believing something this ridiculous. Everyone does. Until they know the truth and can readily access the Father of Truth.

So who is our greatest example of a hero?

Someone who never believed any of the Devil’s lies? How did He do it?

“1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered….

5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. 8 And Jesus answered and said unto him,

Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.” Luke 4:1,2,5-8

The devil always tries to lie and get us to doubt when we are physically hit, or weak. He tries to manipulate our emotions and blind us to the truth our sonship rights. What did Jesus say, “It is written.” He quoted scripture. Why? It’s the Word of Truth. Jesus Christ let the Word, weed out the lie. We have that ability don’t we? We can allow the wisdom from above to shed light on our life. It will shed light on where we are believing a lie. Let the Word of Truth shed light on your symptoms.

What do symptoms of a lie look like?

“13 Who [is] a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation (behavior, habit patterns) his works with meekness of wisdom. 14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. 15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but [is] earthly, sensual, devilish. 16 For where envying and strife [is], there [is] confusion and every evil work.” James 3:13-16

This verse outlines the symptoms of living a lie against the truth.

The only way to know the truth is to get your information, not from this world but, from God and the Word of Truth.

“17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, [and] easy to be intreated, (easy to be received) full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace” James 3:17-18

Peace reigns in a life filled with truth. Good fruits, good expectations, mercy reigns in a life filled with truth. Can we embrace that? I know I can. And heck, I have the smartest readers in the world so I know you will.

God Bless you today!
