Few people ever achieve sucess without this one elemental key in their walk. What is it? Well, first let me tell you about Allie.
Allie is finishing up her law degree, as I write this. I have become very close to her over the last three years, to my absolute joy. There have been ups and downs in her journey through college and law school. There have been late nights, and early mornings, tougher than tough tests, and longer than long legal papers to write. Her journey has been like say, the climb to Mount Everest. Yet there has never been one time I’ve heard her say, “I want to change my mind about college.” Though she may have felt that way, she has never uttered those words to me.
What does she have that keeps her going? Why will she succeed where others fail? Allie has grown through making, striving and holding on to a very personal commitment.
Personal commitment is not an option, it is a necessity!
It is also a sign of maturity. What does that mean about our walk with God? Well, a committed person sacrifices themself for the commitment. They make choices to avail themself towards the commitment and cause. They consider the commitment worthy of instruction, time and resources such as money, housing and career choices. In general, personal commitment is paramount to one’s success in life. In the God picture, it is the difference between a spiritual cripple and a spiritual victory.
How does God say this in the Word?
“Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect (mature) man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ, That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ;” Ephesians 4:13-15
There is a striking difference between someone committed to renewing their mind and operating God’s Love and someone simply attending church, reading Christian literature and talking the Christian-eeze lingo. In other words, there is a striking difference between true humility and religion. There is also a striking difference between the results they get as well.
If you don’t live the Word once you learn it, you will become spiritually handicapped.
Does a blind man see the obstacles in his path? No. Spiritual blindness, ignorance and naivety is just as dangerous. You have only one life to live and give, so give your utmost for His highest. There are hard days, yes. It would be immature to say every day is easy. But there is security and a surety when a personal commitment manifests through your believing and in your life. Nothing tops it. Nothing says, leadership, like commitment. Not just commitment to a church service or men’s traditions, but to God and what He really wants in your life. A man or woman walking with God can never be pigeon-holed by society. They escape it by walking in love.
Do you want to see extraordinary growth with the one true God? Then make a commitment to a morning routine. Ask Him if He were in your shoes what would He do with your time. Make the commitment to only read God’s Word. Throw out all the “Christian-eeze” and “churched-up” media. God WROTE His Word for YOU. If it doesn’t make sense, keep trying. Learn the keys to studying it and rightly dividing it.
“This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk in the vanity of their mind, having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleaness with greediness. BUT YE (YOU) have not so learned CHRIST; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation, the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be ye RENEWED in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” Ephesians 4:17-24
God bless you today!
