It’s been awhile since I posted last and I’m happy to say, I haven’t been gone forever, just busy. Today, I’d like to invite you to join us. We’ll be doing our first 8 week Bible study/workshop on the “5 Basics for Growth” Book. As I’ve been preparing for this workshop setting, I realised that each chapter touches on a subject in a very simple way that could be studied in far more depth. We are going to have so much fun, and don’t worry there’s not a ton of homework, just a ton of learning. Here is a video commercial that I hope you’ll all share on your social media pages.
My family and I strolled along in Sam’s Club looking at the bulk mayonnaise and and laughed about eating it in every meal for the next year, when all of a sudden, “SHE“ walked around the corner.
She was my school-yard nemesis.
With razor-sharp insults and a wicked sense of humor I had been the butt of each cruel joke. This girl, now a woman, stood before me with no clue to her destructive devices.
She waved and I said, a lame, “Hello”. My heart thundered in my chest as my sweet husband, thinking she was an old friend, expounded to her all my recent painting conquests and our business successes, which she had already heard of. I waited for the sneer and lifted upper lip, accompanied by the usual sarcastic taunt.
The devil is a bully, and an accuser and full of insults. She had been his bludgeoning tool and my kryptonite.
My son spoke up and asked if she knew that he wanted a train set for his birthday. (He was so innocent.) My blood pressure spiked, my heart crashed and clattered against my rib cage. My instincts to protect him had me pulling him closer to my side.
She smiled and remarked at his wonderful choice of a train.
I tried to calm myself, but also puzzled at this very emotional reaction that was kicking up into a real storm. I asked myself, “What is it about this girl? She has obviously changed.” Then I knew.
As we walked away, I said nothing to my husband. How could I? He didn’t know that this woman had been one of the bullies I dreaded most during junior high and high school.
“Bretheren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize fo the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14
NOW what am I supposed to do God? I felt the pall of adolescent humiliation clenching my senses. I was in middle school gym class all over again as I stretched up to all of three inches tall as she looked down her nose at my few extra pounds. There’s no getting around that I “FEEL” a very specific emotion. So what do I do now? How can I be an over-comer?
How do I walk in love?
How do I salvage my standing on the promises of God? It must have been the same way for David, standing before Goliath.
A wise man once told me, “You can’t help it if a bird poops on your head, but you CAN keep it from building a nest there.” And a bird had just dropped a load the size of Texas on me. So now what was I going to do? How was I going from zero to hero?
After we finished shopping, I got in my car and took a breath. The pressing down on me still had its hold. I knew I’d been spiritually attacked as well as mentally. I knew that when the devil throws the past at you, whatever you do, don’t overreact. But there the emotions swirled. My heart still beating irregular, my palms were still very wet. What was I going to do? So I asked God, how do I get over this?
“Sing my songs.”
So I started singing. I sang loud and long, and probably off-key. Isaac watched from the back as my smile grew, my mind lifted, the whole of our presence and mood became light again. Every horrible memory, every mean thing and every tangible or intangible power she held over me disappeared.
Here’s what I took out of all this. No matter how big our britches get in the Word, we still live in this world. The devil can still find things to cause us confusion, but God is greater because He can help us solve things from the inside out. We don’t have to live as victims to the devil’s sick twisted games. I prayed for her. I prayed for her life. I prayed for her. And you can too.
Our emotions were given to us by a Holy and Loving Father, but they are not our masters. We still have freewill to overcome with God, or to let them, our emotions, run our lives. Fear, intimidation, and bullying, is never from God and God can help us defeat them. I’m not sure why I told you all this today, but maybe it will help you overcome too in a stressful situation.
“Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsover state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: everywhere and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:11-13
God bless you today.
Big dreams seem like running a syndicated broadcast are made up of tiny daily commitments. Big dreams like painting a mural that gets positive national media attention, requires daily commitments. And big dreams like owning the highest producing brokerage in the state takes big-little daily commitments. Every day, we have to have our eyes on our dreams. They can’t be a foggy. They must be a clear picture. It must be in focus and in must stay relevant.
What do you mean by relevant? Relevant is the dream that is flexible and do-able. It has immediate pay-offs as well as long-term pay-offs. It is big enough to move you. It feels like, if you don’t get up and do something everyday, then you aren’t going to get there. It feels like such a pull that your day isn’t quite complete without doing it. You feel funny if you haven’t done something for your dream.
The best thing about knowing God is, He can direct you to the dreams that are available, do-able, positive and most beneficial in your life. Why waste your time and life on dreams that will harm you in the end, or take away your morality with compromises? Who would want that? Yet, many people strive towards joy-sucking dreams and goals. God would never like that! He wants you blessed and having fun while you’re doing it!
Who told you that?
The one challenge I see many women face is; they don’t believe they are worthy to receive or achieve. Who told you that? And did you realize they are lying?
“Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:” Colossians 1:12-13
“Hath” is past tense. God already delivered us from darkness and put us in the kingdom of his Son. Why not embrace our new reality? Why let the devil convince us of a lie? We ARE worthy because God made it so. We have every bit of power, wisdom and strength and it’s already available.
In a world full of question marks, we have the exclamation point!
Dreams and goals let us live that exclamation point. What if your big goal, that scares you, is praying in front of other people for the first time? That is an amazing goal!
But I’m going to warn you the faster you get to that goal and overcome it, the further ahead you need to look. Make your goals happen fast, make deadlines for yourself so you get up and do something about them in the immediate world. You can only give in the present. So there’s no reason to condemn your past, and no reason to blow off your future. GIVE to this moment. And don’t assume you know what you’re giving will produce. Just give. Give liberally, without judgement to the second, minute and hour you’re in. Do that consistently and nothing will stop you!
God bless you today!
Do you ever feel buried in pressures that aren’t coming from you? Debt? Unresolved issues? Communication problems?
In the midst of all that, how do we get a new lease on life?
May 24th is the day of Pentecost this year. It is quickly approaching, and I have written a post almost everyday since Easter about God and His Word. This has been a fifty day challenge that I feel good about. There have been days I’ve forgotten to blog. There have been days when I woke up late and didn’t have time to do it. There have also been days when I didn’t feel like blogging. April 7th, I blogged the first time about this series. We are over half way to Pentecost. I am so excited, aren’t you!?
Imagine for a moment,
You are one of Jesus Christ’s disciples during this time. Jesus Christ passed away thirty-one days ago, he has already been seen by many of your friends and maybe even you. He told you to wait in Jerusalem for the “Comforter” to come and the pressure is rising around you. Jews are actively seeking to kill or imprison the rest of Jesus “Christ-ians”. Your name is on their list. They have hits out and maybe a few bounties too. Most of the day you spend in hiding, in an upper room. Whenever you go out, people ask you about the Messiah, and Jesus, and the ministry. You can’t go anywhere in the city without being recognized as his follower. Just imagine the terror. Your leader, teacher, and friend is gone. His grave is empty. What’s going to happen? You and the others are trying to have faith, you’re trying to believe, but things look really bad.
Then something like this happens.
“Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.” John 20:19
There he is standing in your midst! He just appeared suddenly. Nobody knocked, nobody opened the door. He was just standing there in all his resurrected glory! Stunned silence hits you. It’s really him!
“And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.” vs. 20
“Glad” is the Greek word chairō. It literally means leaping with joy, rejoicing, exceeding triumphant burst of salutations! They flipped out!! The upper room erupted!
How would you feel?
I noticed the other day when I was driving that this fifty-day period is actually a long time. A lot can happen in fifty days. And I man a lot! That’s like a third trimester and birth of a child, a move, a closing on a house, a change of scene/job, and or relationship. There are so many things that can happen in that fifty days! Discouragement would’ve set in for the disciples, frustration, contempt for putting them in danger. All kinds of doubts, but then, you see, Jesus didn’t just leave them hanging. He came and visited with them. He showed them over and over that he had risen.
Look at how Paul summed up Jesus’s re-appearances.
“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.” 1 Corinthians 5:3-8
Jesus stayed connected to his followers. He also helped them have hope, that everything they went through and were going to go through, was worth it.
We have that same opportunity. We also are waiting for the time when Jesus will finally reappear again. With all those witnesses to his first appearances, how could we doubt he will come back again? In the mean time, we have this spectacular connection with God through His gift of Holy Spirit. The Comforter did come in Jesus Christ’s place. It’s our job to use, operate and depend on it.
After the disciples saw Jesus appear before him in that room, do you think they had any more doubts? NO Way! They had a new lease on life because He gave them hope. Every time you speak in tongues you can have that same proof and hope that He is coming back a second time. And no matter what pressures you’re feeling it won’t change that you are a child of God and no amount of crap will change that. Jesus is coming’ back for you and the devil can’t stop him. In fact, the devil will bow to him.
“Beloved, now are we the sons (children) of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is” 1 John 3:2
God bless you today!
Circumstances will never change the Word.
Israel had been in captivity for many years before this record in Nehemiah. Ezra had to re-instruct the people about God and His Word. Look how they treated it.
“And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he opened it, all the people stood up:…” Nehemiah 8:5
All the people stood up. Wow!
“…and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place. So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.” vs 7b-8
You can never go farther than you’ve been taught.
And the further away from God you get it always leads into captivity.
If it’s God’s word than it can not contradict itself. SO how come we see so many apparent contradictions? Here is one example.
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” vs. 38-39
We will never be separated from the love of God. That’s amazing and comforting, so what could Romans 11 mean?
“Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.” Romans 11:22
How do we explain the apparent contradiction?
Paul was writing to two different groups of people here and so the situation was different for each group. The first group is to: “them which are in Christ Jesus” Romans 8:1. They were the committed, born-again believers. The second is written to the Jews who still cling to the law after the day of Pentecost when a new law had been given. “I say then, Hath God cast away his people? For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.” Romans 11:1. They were unbelieving Jews.
Are the spiritual situations different? YES! They change the circumstances. Yet look at the following verse written to these Jews.
“Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.” Romans 11:31-32
God still has mercy for them. Did the Word change? Nope. Did God change? He’s always been merciful. You see we have to have a strong desire for the accuracy and integrity of God’s Word. We have to read it with understanding, and if we don’t understand it, admit it. God is a big guy, we’re not going to understand all that He says or does. But maybe we can be led into an understanding.
You are going to have people come to you and ask for prayer, ministering and help. This is where you need to be diligent and get real quiet on the inside. The circumstances might look one way, but only God knows the condition of the person’s heart and mind. He’s the only one who can help you pray for the exact right thing. That’s why learning about the nine manifestations is so important. You need to learn how to get word of wisdom, word of knowledge. You need to get to the place of understanding but before that can come you must respect the book. Take time to learn the Word of God, because without it you’ll never know God Himself.
God IS His Word.
IF you want to “get” Him, you have to get your situation to change concerning Him. You have to eat and digest the Word.
“Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart:” Jeremiah 15:16a
“Get” to the point that the Word is the joy and rejoicing of your heart. That circumstance will lead to great understanding.
God bless you today!
Is God rich enough to really do that? Rich is probably the wrong word to use. Yes, He does own the world. Yes, He did promise that the meek would inherit it. And yes, He has provided for those who believe. But does He really have what I need at any given moment in my life?
But this is promise comes with a condition. The condition is….you have to believe it.
You have to put it into your mind, heart and life like someone who is learning a new language. Let’s use that analogy. Let’s say you take an online course to learn French. Can you really trust that the people teaching you are right? Maybe they are teaching with such a thick accent no French man or woman could tolerate listening to you. You’d find out soon enough wouldn’t you. What if they were teaching you correctly, but you didn’t learn any words, log in to the system or practice? Then what? You wouldn’t know the language. Nor could you say you did! The same is true from God. If you don’t actually speak His language and do what He’s asking you’ll never get results. Then…and please don’t do this…don’t come back to me and get mad because it didn’t work. Don’t get mad at God either. Whose fault is it if you don’t actually do what you’re asked to do?
“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” Malachi 3:10
This is the first lesson in abundance and having your need supplied. If you just think about tithing, or daydream about doing it, you’ll never have the windows of heaven opened. You’ll never get that blessing poured out so that you don’t have room enough to receive it. You have to actually do it.
These days we don’t have a “storehouse”. What we have is ministers doing God’s work twenty-four seven. They are not always well-known. Sometimes they are an individual. Sometimes they are a group of people, sometimes they are a church. Whoever they are, God knows who that minister is. He knows who will benefit the most from your giving. These men and women have real ministry needs and real physical needs. ASK God who to tithe and abundantly share to. You send the check, supplies, extra-stuff to someone in need with a thankful heart for all they are doing and then God thanks you back.
You do (A) “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house,…”
GOD does (B) “…and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.”
Let’s find out the four things God promises in this one verse:
- Pours out a blessing so that you don’t have room enough to receive it. Wow, that is huge. And that’s only the first one. What do you need? More business, more money, more clients? How about having so many that you don’t have room enough to receive it?
- God rebukes the devourer (Satan) out of your life. He puts a restraining order on him. He’s not allowed near you, your work, your loved ones, your life. Simple huh.
- Keeps Satan from destroying the fruit of your labor. Are you working hard towards something? Don’t you want it protected? Do you have goals? How about just getting your need supplied. How about that?
- God keeps your work from developing at the wrong time. Timing is EVERYTHING with God. Timing is precision. Certain miracles occur in a certain order. Like, you need to get the client, but the client needs to see the house you have listed, so a selling client needs to list with you. In real estate, we work on referrals. So timing is crucial!
Do you want your finances to turn around? We live in the greatest country for earning potential in the world. Why not capitalize on that by doing this one thing. You could have God on your side making every penny count and stretch and roll towards its highest and best use. WHY NOT do what it says? God just knows stuff! He knows what you need, what you don’t need. He knows what will bless you, who will bless you. He knows who won’t.
Here are some more verses on the subject.
“I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” Psalms 37:25
“It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.” Psalms 118:8
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33
“Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.” Romans 12:11
“But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:” 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all [men], especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:9-10
There are many more where that came from. You have the right to all the abundance God is able and willing to supply. Now it’s your time to seize it.
God bless you abundantly today!
Hello! I had something so insightful said to me tonight, that I just had to share it.
If you want to win, you have to believe for it.
IF you want to succeed you have to fight for it. Believe to win! Isn’t that a phenomenal statement!? It sure knocks the crap out of the victim mentality and entitlement attitudes. We will not win in a world designed to pummel us with negatives and doubts, unless we win and believe for it. First, we must believe that God is as willing as He is able to help us. If God, the maker of all heaven and earth, decided to give you power from on-high and direct access to His throne room any time you need it; which He did, why would He withhold any good thing from you?
“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9
The answer is He would not. You and I however may believe the negatives and give into the discouragement. Discouragement is a trick! And believing it only brings you consequences. Believing God and His Word brings results.
“For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.” 1 Thessalonians 2:13
“Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 3:17-18
What we behold, we become changed by. IF we look at the Word, it will transform us. IF we look a the fear, doubt, our past experiences or this world we will be transformed into it. What has the world given us if not more confusion, more doubts and more fear. What do you have to loose except your fear and wrong teaching when you believe the Word of God.
“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” John 14:12
Jesus Christ said these words. Do we believe them? If we want to win, we must believe to. Look at your life. Isn’t it too short to guess?
I hope tonight you are ready for a life of winning.
God bless you today!
