Today is Your Day One

Have you ever wanted to just start over? Were your dreams stolen, your joy pummeled and your heart crushed?

Well today is your day one then. How can I just say that? I mean, let’s be realistic. All that crazy stuff that happened before today, yeah, we know, it really did happen. But today is your day to start over, today is when you draw the line in the sand behind you and start again.

There is a promise in the Word of God about this.  It’s buried in a beautiful chapter of encouragement.

See if you can find it.

2 Corinthians 4:

1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to [give] the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

8 [We are] troubled on every side, yet not distressed; [we are] perplexed, but not in despair; 9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

11 For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. 12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you. 13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

14 Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present [us] with you. 15 For all things [are] for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. 16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward [man] is renewed day by day.

17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding [and] eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen [are] temporal; but the things which are not seen [are] eternal.”

Today is day one. Today we have a chance to speak encouraging words into someone’s life. Today we have a chance to forget those things which are behind and press on towards the mark for the higher calling. Today, this moment, this chance, is ours to take. We can only gain a new perspective and move on. Press into your calling. Press into your ministry. ACTION CURES FEAR. LIGHT DISPELS DARKNESS! Just move.

Call that friend whose on your heart. Reach out and lift those around you.  I take that back. Just do what God asks you to do and let the results be left up to Him. You see it is your ministry, your calling, but He who gave you the JOB. Who do you work for and what does He want? Find that out and then do it. Leave everything else up to Him. Let Him be the judge.

Just be true to Him.

“6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

 8. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:6-8

Watch your thoughts and their integrity. Then move on. Move, cuz this life is wayyyy too short.

Today is day one. Make your day one a tremendous day!

Hot Sex, Real Love, a True Companion, Can Christians have all three?

Here’s the scene. You watch in the mall, as three grown men ogle a woman wearing a dress too short for her leg length and a top cut too low for her shoulder width. She looks like a walking wardrobe malfunction, or a cry from the wild Amazonian jungle. But that’s just it…she isn’t walking she is sa-shaying away; hypnotizing the men with the sway of her hips. From that incident we women, who wear capris that are too long for our stubby legs, and a top named after a dead-old-maid, gather that men only want sex-appeal from us. As sure as I am that the first woman is stopping traffic and causing wrecks, I am also sure that men are smarter than that. What am I talking about?

Yes, sex and the kind that makes you sigh into your coffee with delight when your sweetie walks by the next morning. Here’s the difference between the first woman and the second. Confidence. Let me test this out on the men for a second. Have you ever seen your woman drop her conversation to watch a six-pack with no shirt working in a yard? Ah-hem…yes…you have. Women do the same thing won’t we? Could the men assume from seeing their women do is that all WE want is sex appeal from our man. Is that true girls? Nahhhh! Not at all!

(I can hear my mother now…Terri, this is a Christian website and you’re not supposed to talk about sex on here! Lol…) I’m not talking about just sex. I’m talking about GOOD sex, with respect. Sure, it’s a Christian topic. I don’t want to have to bring up all the men and women of the Old Testament who “got it on,” to prove it to you. Or how much Paul had to talk about not getting it on with people outside your marriage. It’s all over the Bible.

There are 3 Kinds of Love; Agape (the love of God), Philos (familial/friendship love), and Eros (sexual love). If you build a relationship on the love of God, you’ll enhance the other two by using it. But if you are hot under the collar with eros, and then try to build the other two, you get it backwards. Sure… the sex is great, but after a while you don’t like the other person and things degrade from there.

Here’s the bottom line folks. God designed our bodies, He designed our minds, He knows what flips “the switch” for each gender and He’s not a prude. Take God out of the box and ask Him what you can do to bless your sweetie in the sack. Respect the other person and start incorporating agape into your eros. You’d easily ask what God would do to bless a friendship, why not here as well?  It sure makes it a lot easier for the man to say no to the constant bombardment of temptation and the woman as well. Just a tip here, be willing to do whatever God says. My hubby brought me a shoe-shelf one time and got me all hot and bothered. HA! Boy was he surprised! The point is; he was willing to bless me the way God asked and he does it everyday. I try to do the same. We became lifelong companions who are deeply in love. You can have this too! But you have to do it God’s way.

Now; just like in so many of my posts I talk about what God is okay with–and what isn’t Him at all. It really boils down to two things either you’re humble to God, or you’re prideful. Either you’ll do things God’s way, or you gotta do it your own way. This issue is problematic for either gender. Chauvinism (male or female), arrogance, ego, destructive behavior physically or mentally, these are on the pride side with anything. It goes for sex as well. If you are being this way towards another person…it actually destroys what is so great about great sex. If you are in a situation with someone, male or female like this, go to God. Ask if that will ever change. If not, ask God what to do about it. Every situation is unique. Sometimes a healing is required. Sometimes nothing can be done. That’s when you have to decide.

I’ll leave you with this verse.

“I [am] my beloved’s, and my beloved [is] mine…” Song of Songs 6:3a

God Bless You Today!

Are You Achieving Great Results?

Most of God’s people today struggle with getting great results. They don’t know how to attain, retain and then release power from God. Their minds are more fear-filled, more doubtful and distrustful today than ever before and as a result; the people who should be seeing prolific demonstrations of God’s power, see fewer and fewer miracles every year. When we, as God’s children, have the access and license to abound in miraculous propulsion! So what’s the secret? Why do some Christian’s believing result in success and others result in the flat-line effect?

First, there is a cunning and cultured secret you must learn. There is an understanding among the point one percent of believers who see this kind of life. It’s not really a secret, but doesn’t that sound so much more exciting? The only reason it feels like a secret is, so few have ever learned it. Well, today that life-sucking ignorance ends. Today is your new chapter, your new page, your new overturned leaf, and your new start! Today is the first day of the rest of eternity. Today is when you, my dear, will turn into a power pummeling, mind-revived, miracle making machine! Today as the sun creeps up the walls of the buildings and trees and seeps past the curtains and windows lighting your moment. Your miraculous awakening begins today! Today is a big day.

Because, today you are going to begin your mental training for ninja-like moves.

Now it’s time you learn the secret, that is not a secret, to God’s power.

The secret requires diligence, discipline and trust. It requires you taking action. One cannot and MUST not sit idly while learning this secret! Get involved. Do the steps. Participate in the training. Otherwise…it’s useless to go on. Okay, are you ready?

The secret to all of God’s mighty, earth awakening power in a believers life is

…the renewed mind.

I know, I know. It’s not really that big of a secret is it.

You may be thinking, “Oh Terri, I’ve heard this before, quit repeating yourself.”

I’m sorry… I must.

“But I know I HAVE to renew my mind. Why do you need to keep telling me about it?”

I’m sorry… I must.

“BUT WHY???”

Because, yes, I know that you know all of this and probably get plenty of miraculous results on a daily basis. YOU are just that cool. BUT what if I told you that there is another level beyond the power popping place you’ve arrived at? What if you could be edified and built up just a little more? What if I told you something new about the renewed mind?

“Like what?”

See…you’ve probably already achieved great mental freedom from fear through the renewed mind. You probably have so many results you could archive them in tall voluminous hallways of books. But there is still more to learn. There is still more to do.

Why did Jesus Christ do what he did? Why did God do what He did?

“For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.” Ephesians 4:12-16

Jesus didn’t do this for the half-way there point. He did it so you could go ALL THE WAY there. He and God teamed up to perfect the saints, for the work of the ministry and for the edifying of the body of Christ until we are ALL unified in the faith. ALL that stuff. Are we all there? No. Thank God you’re there, but what about the rest of the believers? I need edification. Do we know how to do what you do? Don’t we long for results like you get? Jesus Christ didn’t just do this for himself, so that he could get to heaven and then sit on his laurels. He did it for all of us. God did it for all of us. We are asked to be imitators of God and followers of Him. How big did He give? His only son? The least we can do is share a post on Facebook. Why do the majority of Christians face depression, anger and regret in their walk? Because once they have the abundant life they stop sharing it. Get out there and participate. Start teaching what you know. Fellowship with others and edify them in their walk.

Do you want to see incredible results? Start giving it away. I’ve never had more growth myself, nor been more edified in my walk then when I help a babe in the Word stand for the first time on what they believe. JOY overwhelming joy! You will learn the value of your walk when you see results in other people’s life, not just your own.

GIVE and watch your own life GROW.

God bless you today!

Keep Those Feet Up, Move It, Move It!

Stretch to the left, Stretch to the right! You can do it, do it!

Winning the race-001

Our bodies are miraculous and intricate. They are battery factories with the ability to produce volts of energy unlike any other body on the planet. Can we be stronger than a horse? Ask Sampson that question. Could we be stronger than a bear or out maneuver a lion? Ask David that question.

These men of the Bible did amazing things with their physical bodies, and today men and women continue to break new records for strength, health and endurance. But why should we as Christians care about our bodies? I mean, after all aren’t we going to have new spiritual bodies when Jesus Christ returns?

In the lasts few posts, we have talked about leadership from the inside out. Leadership is an inside thing. There are five areas of our lives;

    1. Spiritual
    2. Mental/Emotional
    3. Relationships
    4. Physical
    5. Financial

Yesterday, we talked about financial and today we are working the physical. Having the right perspective about our bodies is paramount, but it will surprise you what that perspective is. (I’m going to shock some of you today…I just know I am.)

“But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own flesh. All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds…” 1 Corinthians 15: 38-39

All flesh, as given by God, is different. Each has a different use or purpose. Animals have only body and soul. People can have body, soul and spirit or our inner man, as God calls it in Ephesians 3:16 as soon as they believe God raised Jesus Christ from the dead.

Massive amounts of research, time and money go into the study of the natural human’s physical body. We study how to heal it, strengthen it and change it. By comparison, not even one-tenth of that much fuss goes into studying the inner man, our spiritual body, and how it affects the physical body. Here’s a statement for you. A strong INNER MAN will inspire, stabilize, strengthen and heal a physical body faster, with more ease and with greater accuracy than natural man could do it alone.

Here’s my wager.

A person who is moderately active but uses his or her strong “inner man” for stability, competence, and mastery is more readily fitted for life and EVEN the tasks of the most strenuous athlete, than a man of just body and soul with no spiritual influence.

Why? Because the man/woman born of God’s spirit and aware of God’s direction has a hidden ability. They have, and depend, on a SUPER human strength and an EXTRA-sensory understanding. What do I mean. Can a man without God’s power heal himself with herbs and medical attention? Yes. It happens time and again. In fact, even animals such as chimpanzees will eat certain leaves to cure intestinal bugs. Natural man has reasoning, he could figure that out. But what if the man was blinded or had a birth defect like a crooked arm?

“And looking round about upon them all, he (Jesus) said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other.” Luke 6:10

“Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.” Acts 3:6-8

Okay, so there’s healing. But that’s not the only path to an amazing physical body. What about exercise and eating right? Aren’t those important too Terri?

Very! But why are you obsessed? Is it because every media images you see communicate to you that your body is not good enough? So many women beat themselves up until they are fighting constant condemnation and criticism in their own mind to the point of sinning against God over it. So I always ask people, first figure out what the motivation is for what you’re doing. Why are you exercising? Why are you punishing yourself mentally? Why are you breaking fellowship with God over eating a cookie? There is NEVER anything so important that it should break your fellowship with God. Condemnation isn’t of God. Guilt is not of God. Accusations are not of God. So where could those things be coming from? The world. And who is the god of this world? Satan. So ask yourself why and really be honest.

Is it okay to be over weight?

Is it okay to be skin and bones? Before you can determine that you must be honest about the “why”. Remember, I said leadership is an inside thing. Here’s the facts. Your thoughts come first before the perfect body, the wealth, the relationships, and the success. All these start with your thoughts and that inner man. Sin is harmatia, or missing the mark which causes broken fellowship with God. Being overweight, of itself, is not a sin, being out of fellowship with God because you’re overweight is. Get that straightened out and you are GOLDEN!

For me, I’ve struggled with weight for a long time. The struggle had control over me. I wanted to be skinnier so I could look like a model, right. Just like everyone else. Then God pointed out one day that my weight, just like all these other areas, was a renewed mind problem. I didn’t have the perspective HE has about it.

He created our bodies for a purpose. What is our purpose?

“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in [his] kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2: 4-9

What is our purpose?

To walk in the good works which God before ordained that we should walk. God knew in His foreknowledge that we’d choose HIM. So even with our bodies we must choose Him. We let Him help us make our bodies well enough, fit enough and healthy enough to do those good works. That’s all. This body is just a vessel. It is not something to worship. It just has to carry us around for the next lifetime. Everyone’s assigned “good works” are different. For instance. What if you have a marathon ministry? Wouldn’t it be ideal if you had a strong enough set of legs to take you to the end of that marathon? What if you didn’t have a marathon ministry but just enjoyed a good long run? Is that okay? ABSOLUTELY! Here’s what you do.

God if you were me, what weight would you strive to get to?

God if you were me, what training would you put your body through?

God if you were me, what food would fuel your body with?

God if you were me how would you think about your physical body?

Do you get the idea? Let God have some say in this “program”. Then you are making the most of your super human and extra-sensory powers. You are now employing GOD’s wisdom, instead of just the worlds’.

I’ll leave you with this.

14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what [is] the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 Unto him [be] glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” Ephesians 3:14-21

God bless you today!

What if God Sneezed?

If God breathed and we received a soul,

“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Genesis 2:7

what would happen if God sneezed?

“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:1-2

I’m kidding! I’m sure that God didn’t sneeze. But sheesh, IF that were the case, I’m glad God doesn’t have allergies. Lol…The first breath and mankind received a soul, or breath-life, the next time he received life quickening spirit!

That life quickening spirit is as universe altering in its reality and ability to change our lives, as the first man as he lay in the dirt as a clump of skin and bones. When Adam opened his eyes and looked around for the first time he was a whole man. He had fingers, toes and probably even a naval. He was just as whole. God didn’t give him one arm and two legs and say, if you’re good, you can earn your other arm. He was a whole man, just the way he was created.

When we receive our inner man, that life-quickening spirit it is like the moment Adam opened his eyes and found he was whole and ready to run. We have all nine manifestations of the spirit, all the appurtenances and abilities of a whole inner man. Look at this beautiful verse in Corinthians.

“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.” 1 Corinthians 12:7

I bolded the “profit withal” so we could look closer at it. The sentence hardly makes sense to our modern English-speaking ears and tongue because the King James is try to interpret one Greek word with two English words. The Greek word there  is “sympherō” which means, to bring together for a profit. We get our English word “symphony” from this word. The beauty is there are many parts of a symphony, but all the oness is on the end result, the end sounds and music. The end manifestation of that one “bring together of” sounds.

“Manifestation” is just the outward proof and acts of the inner reality/symphony going on. Spirit is invisible. So is the wind. When we see the trees move, we know that it is windy. When we see people manifest their gift of holy spirit, we know they are born-again. So as I look here at the Greek Interlinear Bible, here’s how it should be interpreted directly from the Greek.

“But to each is given the manifestation of the spirit for profit.” vs 7

The amazing reality here is, we were given the whole inner man, the whole package and why? For a profit a benefit, for a use and purpose. What is the purpose? Well, why did Adam get two arms and one nose? Why did he get two lunges and one mouth? It was God’s pleasure to give him everything at one time that he needed to survive this life and prepare him for every circumstance he could possible run into.

“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13

Why would God give one person speaking in tongues, and then another working of miracles? Why would He give one person healing, but then not give him word of wisdom word of knowledge? Wouldn’t that be favoritism? God is no respecter of persons. Or why would God tell us all about these manifestations and then make them not available to us at all? What kind of loving God would give us a human physical body and then say…you can’t use that. The use of those legs I gave you “died with the apostles”? Which is a common argument against speaking in tongues. No. Let us not be tricked into a lie, and the error of our beautiful inner man.

You have a very whole and very real spirit. It’s all yours, you have all of it, and you can do all nine all the time. What are all nine manifestations of the gift of holy spirit?

    1. Speaking in Tongues
    2. Speaking in Tongues with Interpretation
    3. Prophecy
    4. Word of Wisdom
    5. Word of Knowledge
    6. Discerning of Spirits
    7. Faith
    8. Gifts of Healing
    9. Miracles

Now it’s just a matter of learning HOW to use them properly and by God’s direction. Now it’s time to learn how to walk and how to RUN with God.

God bless you today!

What’s in a Nickname?

Walter Payton lived from July 25th, 1954- November 1st, 1999. He was a hall of fame football player and a prolific running back for the Chicago Bears. He set records most had never imagined before. Walter was a big, strong black man with a work ethic unlike any other football player. He invented “the hill”, because everyday he would run to the top of this crazy high hill. This man was one tough, burly man. But do you know what his nick name was? “Sweetness.” I sat chuckling over this because you would never expect that from a brawny, sports-hardened, professional athlete. So why the nickname “Sweetness”? He had a certain grace when he played that awed the crowd. But before that, it stemmed from his personality as well. He had a softer side that nobody expected. Once you got to know him better, you would see it and understand. Isn’t that a cool fun fact. Now you can wow all the football fans in your life.

What does that have to do with Supporting Godly Women?

Well, the gift of holy spirit has a nickname too. God poured out this huge, awe-inspiring, life-altering gift of salvation to all those who believe Romans 10:-9 -10 on the day of Pentecost. It has so much power that the devil runs from even a child who operates it. Entire kingdoms and time zones have trembled at the surge of authority and power it has and yet what is its nickname?

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26

“But the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me” John 15:26

Why would God through Jesus Christ call this huge gift the Comforter? That seems like a soft name for such a war-hardened power?

Because God knew we’d need a comforter. With all the facets of spiritual power and abilities the 9 manifestations give to a flesh and blood human, God knew we’d also need comfort as well. We’d need to know, without any doubts, that He is God and He is real.

When you have time today, get quiet and ask God how He comforts you with His Spirit. Ask how that comfort makes you stronger everyday. Ask how that quiet peace and acquiescence changes your inner man. You won’t be disappointed.
