Isn’t it time you…

It’s been awhile since I posted last and I’m happy to say, I haven’t been gone forever, just busy. Today, I’d like to invite you to join us. We’ll be doing our first 8 week Bible study/workshop on the “5 Basics for Growth” Book. As I’ve been preparing for this workshop setting, I realised that each chapter touches on a subject in a very simple way that could be studied in far more depth. We are going to have so much fun, and don’t worry there’s not a ton of homework, just a ton of learning. Here is a video commercial that I hope you’ll all share on your social media pages.

Bullies, Birds and Abounding

My family and I strolled along in Sam’s Club looking at the bulk mayonnaise and and laughed about eating it in every meal for the next year, when all of a sudden,SHE walked around the corner.

She was my school-yard nemesis.

With razor-sharp insults and a wicked sense of humor I had been the butt of each cruel joke. This girl, now a woman, stood before me with no clue to her destructive devices.

She waved and I said, a lame, “Hello”. My heart thundered in my chest as my sweet husband, thinking she was an old friend, expounded to her all my recent painting conquests and our business successes, which she had already heard of. I waited for the sneer and lifted upper lip, accompanied by the usual sarcastic taunt.

None came.

The devil is a bully, and an accuser and full of insults. She had been his bludgeoning tool and my kryptonite.

My son spoke up and asked if she knew that he wanted a train set for his birthday. (He was so innocent.) My blood pressure spiked, my heart crashed and clattered against my rib cage. My instincts to protect him had me pulling him closer to my side.

She smiled and remarked at his wonderful choice of a train.

I tried to calm myself, but also puzzled at this very emotional reaction that was kicking up into a real storm. I asked myself, “What is it about this girl? She has obviously changed.” Then I knew.

Emotional Storm-001

As we walked away, I said nothing to my husband. How could I? He didn’t know that this woman had been one of the bullies I dreaded most during junior high and high school.

“Bretheren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize fo the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14

NOW what am I supposed to do God? I felt the pall of adolescent humiliation clenching my senses. I was in middle school gym class all over again as I stretched up to all of three inches tall as she looked down her nose at my few extra pounds. There’s no getting around that I “FEEL” a very specific emotion. So what do I do now? How can I be an over-comer?

How do I walk in love?

How do I salvage my standing on the promises of God? It must have been the same way for David, standing before Goliath.

A wise man once told me, “You can’t help it if a bird poops on your head, but you CAN keep it from building a nest there.” And a bird had just dropped a load the size of Texas on me. So now what was I going to do? How was I going from zero to hero?

After we finished shopping, I got in my car and took a breath. The pressing down on me still had its hold. I knew I’d been spiritually attacked as well as mentally. I knew that when the devil throws the past at you, whatever you do, don’t overreact. But there the emotions swirled. My heart still beating irregular, my palms were still very wet. What was I going to do? So I asked God, how do I get over this?

“Sing my songs.”

So I started singing. I sang loud and long, and probably off-key. Isaac watched from the back as my smile grew, my mind lifted, the whole of our presence and mood became light again. Every horrible memory, every mean thing and every tangible or intangible power she held over me disappeared.

Here’s what I took out of all this. No matter how big our britches get in the Word, we still live in this world. The devil can still find things to cause us confusion, but God is greater because He can help us solve things from the inside out. We don’t have to live as victims to the devil’s sick twisted games. I prayed for her. I prayed for her life. I prayed for her. And you can too.

Our emotions were given to us by a Holy and Loving Father, but they are not our masters. We still have freewill to overcome with God, or to let them, our emotions, run our lives. Fear, intimidation, and bullying, is never from God and God can help us defeat them. I’m not sure why I told you all this today, but maybe it will help you overcome too in a stressful situation.

“Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsover state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: everywhere and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:11-13

God bless you today.

Bucky the Lucky Puppy and You

Do you ever wonder why everything seems so dark?

Is there anyone you can trust? Or anywhere you can go where there aren’t terrible things going on?

Have you ever seen those dogs that get their head stuck in a sand bucket from the kids playground? They are featured often times on America’s Funniest Home Videos. We laugh at them floundering around in their own perceived darkness. But boy, are they scared! And have you ever tried to get the bucket off? They fight you don’t they because they don’t trust and can’t see you.

Well, the devil does this to people all the time. He sales them on a gimmick of God, and puts a black bucket over their head. They run head-long into trouble. They are scared and everywhere they look they are surrounded by cramped darkness that just will not end. We might even hear a voice from outside the darkness trying to tell us to stop for a second so they can help, but they don’t trust it.

Click Here to Learn About Bucky the Lucky Puppy. (Video will open in a new window.)

Can you imagine that?! For two months that poor dog was suffering but didn’t know how to get help. How many of us are like that? We stop going where we get the help and get tricked into having a bucket put around our head. Our view of the world becomes skewed.

Light always dispels darkness.

ALWAYS! Darkness cannot dispel light. It has no power over it. The light just is. God just is. I’ve noticed that the more I publish darkness, or allow darkness to rule in my life, through media, evil thinking, unprofitable conversations, the less good I feel about myself, life and everyone around me. I focus on the dark, then my world becomes dark. That doesn’t mean the whole world is dark or there isn’t any light. It means I need to get back to the light. Or maybe, I just need to have someone help me get the bucket off my head.

“Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” Ephesians 4:2-6

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly.” John 10:10

 Have you heard the phrase,

“When you’re down, bury your head in the Word and don’t come out until you feel better.”

God has been chasing you around His property. He’s out looking for you every night and day. He won’t give up. Let Him help. Get into a place that will teach you the rightly divided Word of God without apologies. Go back to the Word! If you’d like to join us tonight and every Wednesday night for our hour in the Word, please do.  Below is an invite that is a clickable link. It will go live at 6 pm tonight MST. Come and have some laughs, learn a little and enjoy the fellowship of some lucky puppies just like you. 🙂

God Bless You Today!

042: Happy Birthday to the Church!

Today is the Day of Pentecost!

What does that mean? Today, is the day we recognize the founding of the Church of the Body of Christ. Approximately 2,015 years ago Jesus Christ died and the apostles waited for power from on high. It was fifty days after the Passover and the death of Jesus Christ.

In Luke 24:49 Jesus Christ instructed his apostles to wait.

“And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” Luke 24:49

That power from on-high, was power from God.

“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.” Acts 2:1

The day of Pentecost was already a Holy Day.

It was celebrated like we celebrate and observe Easter. We go to service and pray. Well the apostles all went to church too, but back then they did this at the temple, which was also called the house of God. It was also where there were many, many other people. Everyone in town would have come to the temple. People from all over the world in fact. IF you think about this from God’s perspective, what’s a better way to have a large number of people learn about the gift of power from on-high He was about to give the world then at the temple? Ha! Of course that’s where the apostles were. Look what happened next.

“And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.” Acts 2:2

“Oikos,” is the Greek word for house, it literally means, building, dwelling and the house of God, or the tabernacle. It was the house of God and the hour of prayer had come.

“Heaven” is any space above the earth, and the words, “rushing mighty wind” literally mean “heavy breathing” or the “mighty breath of life”. God was putting a new creation into being inside those apostles. It was a phenomenal event. Each time a new believer is born – again it is an act of creation inside them. When Adam was given a soul, God breathed the breath of life into him. Here again, we have the breath of life being given. Isn’t this incredible?! They were now given incorruptible seed or DNA that stamped them forever as God’s children. His adopted children.

“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” 1 Peter 1:23

What happened next?

“And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.” Acts 2:3

“Cloven” means split or divided. God wanted them to know that they had now received the power from on-high. It was a special sign just for them.

“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” vs. 4

This was also a sign, but it was not just for them but for the unbelievers, this also shows every believer from this day forward that they are born-again, just like the apostles were. It proves that we too have the gift of holy spirit that God poured out on every believer and would continue to give to any who believe Romans 10:9-10.

“Wherefore tongues are for a sign:..” 1 Corinthians 14:22a

Here’s what happened next.

” 5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. 6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. 7 And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans? 8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? 9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, 10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. ” Acts 2:5-12

This was an incredible event!

Men and women from all over the place could hear them speak in their own language. Tongue is the old English term for language. Talk about exciting!

It was so exciting that look what happened next in verse 41!

“Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added [unto them] about three thousand souls.” Acts 2:41

Three thousand people were born-again. Three thousand were now able to speak in tongues!

Speaking in tongues became a sign that someone had been born again. So if someone got born-again, but didn’t speak in tongues right away, there was a great concern among the apostles. They began referring to it as “receiving the Holy Ghost, (or Spirit)” because it always accompanied being born-again. Look at this record later in Acts.

“Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might (also) receive the Holy Ghost:” (Or speak in tongues) Acts 8 14-15

Simon the sorcerer, in this case, had bewitched the people for so long that they heard the word of God and believed it but did not manifest speaking in tongues. This was so inappropriate and wrong that the apostles sent the two head Apostles down to see what the problem was and get them back on track. If those men could only see what happens today! Whole denominations rebuke this wonderful sign and manifestation! Is that what God would have wanted or does want for His children today? Not by all accounts here. We are supposed to be born again and then immediately manifest the power from on-high.

“Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.” 1 Corinthians 14:39

How far off base have we allowed ourselves to live and be taught the accuracy of God’s Word?

My GoD! How much more in error could we be? IF you learned this from your church, pastor or fellow believer then now is your chance to change and manifest the wonderful gift inside you.

“For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” Romans 12:3

We all have the same measure. God handed it out in the same size scoop-fulls to everyone.

Today, on this Day of Pentecost, why don’t we do what the Apostles did. Why don’t we speak with tongues more today, than we ever have.

God bless you today!

Want to learn how to manifest God’s power from on-high by speaking in tongues? Here is a simple handout that explains the whole process in simple easy steps. Today is your day to fuel the growth of your inner man and begin speaking in tongues!

041: About this Sunday…

This year, after Easter, I tried to blog a post here everyday for the fifty days. I have hit almost every day over this period. I wanted to honor the 50 days between Easter and Pentecost, Sunday May 24th. Pentecost is the birthday of the church of God.Pentecost used to be called the Feast of the Harvest. It was a celebration of new beginnings! I can’t think of a more appropriate sentiment for the birth of the Church.

Why did God’s People Need a New Beginning?

old truck Corinthians quote

For four hundred years before the birth of Jesus Christ there had not a light in Israel. There were no prophets. Evil spread into the temple and to all the pharisees. There was not one prophet who could speak for him. Look at John the Baptist’s dad, Zacharias. He was a priest in the temple. God sent Gabriel to tell him that he and his wife would bear a son. Zacharias questioned and doubted the angel. AN ANGEL! Because of his unbelief Zacharias was struck mute until the baby was born. Wow!

Israel needed a light!

That light was Jesus Christ. We have no idea the billions of souls that have been changed because of that one man. He was a man. A man who lived a life in fellowship with God the creator of all men. Thank God for Jesus Christ too, because God had bigger plans for all mankind.

“And he (Jesus Christ) is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell; And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled” Colossians 1:18:21

Reconcile? What does that mean?

Reconcile is translated from the Greek word, apokatallassō which is a verb.

It literally means to:

  1. bring back a former state of harmony.

  2. to reconcile completely.

What former state of harmony did we have, that we lost?

When Adam and Eve were created they had body, soul and spirit. When they were kicked out of the Garden of Eden they did not die physically, so what happened? They lost their connection to God which is Holy Spirit. They had to live without it. And from then on, the people of the world had to earn, through works, their connection. On the Day of Pentecost we received the gift of Holy Spirit which gave it to us permanently when we believe Romans 10:9-10. We got this gift by grace. It cannot be ripped, tricked or tempted out of us. It’s there forever. Do you know what that means? We have sealed the Devil’s fate! He will never again have the complete authority in this world. We have it. Now we just have to learn how to use it!

I hope your Sunday is full and you take a moment to thank God for all He did on that day over two thousand years ago.

God bless you today!

040: Never Give Up On Your Dreams!

Big dreams seem like running a syndicated broadcast are made up of tiny daily commitments. Big dreams like painting a mural that gets positive national media attention, requires daily commitments. And big dreams like owning the highest producing brokerage in the state takes big-little daily commitments. Every day, we have to have our eyes on our dreams. They can’t be a foggy. They must be a clear picture. It must be in focus and in must stay relevant.

What do you mean by relevant? Relevant is the dream that is flexible and do-able. It has immediate pay-offs as well as long-term pay-offs. It is big enough to move you. It feels like, if you don’t get up and do something everyday, then you aren’t going to get there. It feels like such a pull that your day isn’t quite complete without doing it. You feel funny if you haven’t done something for your dream.

The best thing about knowing God is, He can direct you to the dreams that are available, do-able, positive and most beneficial in your life. Why waste your time and life on dreams that will harm you in the end, or take away your morality with compromises? Who would want that? Yet, many people strive towards joy-sucking dreams and goals. God would never like that! He wants you blessed and having fun while you’re doing it!

step with God-001

Who told you that?

The one challenge I see many women face is; they don’t believe they are worthy to receive or achieve. Who told you that? And did you realize they are lying?

“Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:” Colossians 1:12-13

“Hath” is past tense. God already delivered us from darkness and put us in the kingdom of his Son. Why not embrace our new reality? Why let the devil convince us of a lie? We ARE worthy because God made it so. We have every bit of power, wisdom and strength and it’s already available.

In a world full of question marks, we have the exclamation point!

Dreams and goals let us live that exclamation point. What if your big goal, that scares you, is praying in front of other people for the first time? That is an amazing goal!

But I’m going to warn you the faster you get to that goal and overcome it, the further ahead you need to look. Make your goals happen fast, make deadlines for yourself so you get up and do something about them in the immediate world. You can only give in the present. So there’s no reason to condemn your past, and no reason to blow off your future. GIVE to this moment. And don’t assume you know what you’re giving will produce. Just give. Give liberally, without judgement to the second, minute and hour you’re in. Do that consistently and nothing will stop you!

God bless you today!

039: We Should Rename Wednesdays to…

What do you think? It’s a way to think positive about the day at the middle of the week.

How are you doing on this Win-day?

Have you ever seen the movie Mr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium? I saw it the other night and heard this quote. The quote so moved me that now I have it written down somewhere that I can see it always.

Watch this!

37 Seconds well used is a life time! Why should we wait for life? Why not live it? Why not embrace every second to its fullest capacity! Why not make it the very best 37 seconds of our lives?

Some of you will say, “But how Terri?”

There are 37 Ways, but for now how about just 1.

Appreciate the moment you’re in!

Today is a day of possibilities!

“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalms 118:24

Here’s another quote from Mr. Magorium.

“Life is an occasion, rise to it!”

Today is your day to set the record books on fire. It’s a day to accomplish more than you ever hoped and dare to dream bigger than you’ve ever dreamed. Go ahead, reach out and connect with someone. Be vulnerable, be genuine, be real! Guard your heart, but love without limits. How can you do that? Isn’t loving someone and guarding your heart the opposite thing? Not when you do it right.

People think that when they love, they must wear their heart on their sleeve. Instead, it’s as simple as this. Ask God, “If you were me, how would you show them love?”

The reason this is different is, you are loving them with God’s love, agape; not human emotional love. Of course, it’s very hard to tell the difference at first. SO here’s the difference. God fills you with His love for His people of that child of His standing in front of you. He shows you how to see the very best in them and their potential…things you could’ve never seen on your own. You fall in love with Him and His perspective about them. He will never fail you. They might, and probably will. But your heart was safe so it doesn’t break. God just keeps on loving them, so can you. And you love them for all the right reasons.

It’s truly a Win-day for me. How about you!?

God bless you today!
