A Struggle and Victory over Depression

Today’s psychology books talk like we are the first generation to have the symptoms of what they call psychosis. In all reality, these problems go back to the war in heaven and the exile of the Lucifer to Earth. Fear, doubt, and worry have been renamed as depression, schizophrenia, anxieties, and PSTD and really most any of them fit into one of the three categories of fears, doubts and worries. Oh and yes, I did say PSTD. But we can look back at some of our Biblical heroes and see how they overcame this mental pressure without medication. In fact, they all had one thing in common when it came to the cure, but we will talk about in a few minutes. First, I want to prove my point.

Let’s go to Genesis and Peek into Abraham’s life;

“And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.” Genesis 15:2-3

Abram watched as the slaves and servants in his house had children a plenty. Here he is in his eighties! His beautiful wife Sarah watched them until she was well past the age of having children. And oh the heartbreak! Do you think they battled mental pressure over this? They were God’s chosen leaders and yet…no one was born to them in their lineage in a time when your family line meant life or death.

Emotional Storm-001

Let’s look at David, another Biblical hero;

“How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? 2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, [having] sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? 3 Consider [and] hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the [sleep of] death; 4 Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; [and] those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. ” Psalms13:1-4

You can almost hear the moaning and agony  of not knowing when God was going to show up. David was depressed, desperate for help and pouring out his heart before God. He had a talent for words, but his struggle was real. Here’s a man who had seen such carnage in battle and such heart-wrenching combat that most of our men and women in the military today would shudder. I mean no disrespect, but David and the Israelites were always fighting hand to hand  and had no other options like bombing, drones or missiles. If they were defeated, their women would be passed around from enemy camp to camp until they died. Their children would be slaves and die of starvation or disease. These people lived in uncivilized times where brutal men did horrifying things and to stay alive, and God’s people had to be mentally tough. Was God still God for them?? ABSOLUTELY!!!

How did they make it through, without pharmaceutical companies? Or medical marijuana?

I can identify one main thing that they did throughout all these struggles. It was not easy, but it was simple.

The real fight for humanity is raging on in the invisible. It rages in the mind. But that is not a new fight as you can see. It has always been there, and there has always been a way to have victory.

What did they do?

For Abram God made Him a promise.

“And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.”  Genesis 15:4-5

God made Abram a promise just has He has for all of us as well but that isn’t how Abram won the mental battle. How many people have not taken God at His Word? Billions throughout history. What made Abram DIFFERENT? How did he have a victory.

Read the very next verse…

“And he (Abram) believed in the LORD; and He counted it to him for righteousness” vs. 6

Abram renewed his mind to the promise and believed it. Believing something means you put it in your mind and act accordingly. You act like it is already a reality! He didn’t let the depression be his reality, he let the promise be his reality.

Abraham then became a mighty example of believing. Look at what Paul writes about this incredible PROCESS of overcoming circumstances.

“(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, [even] God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. 18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. 19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb: 20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. 22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness” Romans 4:17-22

Look at that first verse! Abraham “calleth those things which be not as though they were”. He acted as if he already had the promise even though his body was dead! Lol…dead! He couldn’t physically do the act of making a baby anymore. But he talked about it, he called it into reality. He believed GOD’s promise. How many of us give up on God’s promises long before this. Abraham was 99 when he had ISAAC. Unbelievable!

What about David??? Let’s read the very next verses from above.

“But (BUT BUT BUT!) I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.” Psalms 13: 5-6

David reminded himself of his trust in God. That is the “renewed mind” in action right there. Sure, things are going to hit us…we live here don’t we. We don’t live in heaven yet. But WE decide if they are going to knock us down and out. This “reminding himself” technique happens all over Psalms and in David’s heart and life.

God asks us to renew our mind. That’s our job. We get that privilege and responsibility.

We decide if situations that cause fear, doubt and worry are going to knock us down and out. This “reminding himself” technique happens all over Psalms and in David’s heart and life.  God asks us to renew our mind. That’s our job. We get that privilege and responsibility. It’s simple, just remind yourself over and over of God’s promises to you. When things hit you, remind, remind and remind again. You may have to remind yourself once and then you’re good to jump up and go again. You may have to drill it into your head like a wood pecker chasing a termite. But don’t stop until you get the prize of a renewed mind. It will get easier the more you do it.

What are some Promises for me?

How about Psalms 13:6…Lol…It worked for David.

“I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.”

By the way, the words “hath dealt” are past tense. He also counted all the times before that God dealt bountifully with him.

Let’s go to the Seven Church Epistles because that is the section of the Bible addressed to us.

“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,” Ephesians 3:20

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

How about from the Leadership Epistle…

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

And Here is the Cream on the Top of it all!

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2

This is the one thing that all of those Bible Heroes did. This is what made them different, powerful and blessed. This is what you can do too!

God Bless you today!

P.S. There are times that your hard won renewed mind is being sabotaged by spiritual forces. In these cases, it’s best to call someone who knows how to do spiritual battle and who can minister to you. You may not realize you are being hit and no one is immune to this. If you feel like this is you and you would like me to talk with you one-on-one, please message me on Facebook or email me.

Just When I Got To My Feet, I Got Hit Again…

Have you ever had that happen? You really work for a few days to get back to your spiritual feet. You read the Word of God, you pray in the spirit like it’s going out of production, you pray with your understanding until your soul feels free to fly again and then…blamo! That happened to me yesterday.

Help Gas Guy-002Blamo!

I’d been doing all of those things this last week and trying to get strong after the last blow that took me to the mat. I’d been knocking evil spirit’s heads together too and pummeling the principalities of his kingdom with my prayers. Boy, I was feeling so good. Then, a dearly loved member of my family called. They brought up a situation that has tried to take me out this last year. They wanted to talk, explore my feelings, clarify my actions and encourage me. For a few hours after that wonderful talk, I was still numb. What just hit me? I wondered. I don’t feel like doing anything. Then…I started eating chocolate. (I mean medicating. Never a good sign) By the time I went to bed, I was depressed, oppressed and ready to give up…again.

This morning I woke up groggy, moody and upset. I feel like an emotional punching bag. What happened God? The remembrance of that conversation came to mind and I realized it was really a spiritual attack. I was getting too excited about God, too accurate, and too close to the real cause of things. The devil had to stop my progress. Hmmm…

What would you do? You just found out you’re being bullied and a wound is being used to keep you in line. How would you feel? I ask you this because I feel like I know you. Birds of a feather flock together. You and I are those birds. You read here because you have the same kind of feathers as I do. Look at the next two verses of chapter two. Keep in mind that we are spiritual athletes on spiritual team.

“If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.” Philippians 2:1-2

Let’s look at the literal translation of those Greek words according to usage.

“Therefore, if there is any encouragement in (fellowship with) Christ, if there is any quieting comfort of the heart in love, if there is any spiritual fellowship, if there is any tender compassion, then make my joy completely full by thinking the same thoughts, by having the same love, by having your souls joined together, by thinking unity.” Philippians 2:1-2

See… birds of a feather.

Unity, tender compassion and spiritual fellowship is the team theme of God. So here I am, knocked face down on the mat of the spiritual boxing ring. I was hit with a low blow. Very low. It was not by my family member, but by the adversary manipulating the situation. Suddenly, I’m aware of just how many times this low blow has hit me this last year. It came everytime I was getting to my feet. Over and over the devil pounded me trying to get me to give up speaking the Word of God.

Is there something that is a huge trigger for you? Is there something that sends you to the chocolate/alchohal/drug drawer? Is there something that has you depressed, oppressed and angry? These are techniques the devil uses to knock us off our walk. He sends us spiraling for days, weeks and even years if he can.

So, bird of a feather and fellow team-mate what should I do?

My first thought is, the secret to the devil’s success is the secrecy of his moves. His secret just got revealed. Now what? Yep, ask God what to do next.

Phil. 4:8 comes to mind and remember…I’m feeling like a total loser, discouraged, depressed and I don’t think I can carry on.

“Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true…”

Are any of those thoughts true? No.

“whatsoever things are just,”

I was the victim of a spiritual attack, is that just? No

“whatsoever things are honest,”

Didn’t God make me more than a conqueror? Didn’t He seat me in the heavenlies? So…am I a loser? No

“whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8

Wow! I’m already encouraged! The way I feel does not live up to the truth. Okay…now I have a choice. Do I believe the Word of God or do I stay discouraged; which is a huge trick?

This is where the rubber meets the road. I have to decide to receive and use the truth in my life. This is how we renew our minds. We put the Word of God in mind and act accordingly. Why? Because I’m Rocky Balboa in a skirt…oh geez what a mind picture. I mean, I’m tough and once I realize I’ve been tricked, used, abused and scammed I get ticked off! Just like you. God doesn’t want me living my life with my head hanging in defeat all day. He gave me freedom. He gave me a real choice!

“Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? (that’s me and you) [It is] God that justifieth. Who [is] he that condemneth? [It is] Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, (NO WAY) in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:33-40

As I lay face down on the mat in the spiritual ring my soul begins to rumble with God’s passionate truth. The devil stands over me and laughs and taunts but I know where my strength lies. It lies in God. He is my sufficiency. It is in what Jesus Christ did. He made it so I could get up. I rise to my knees and hear, “STAY DOWN! YOU CAN’T DEFEAT ME PUNY CHRISTIAN”. The rumble inside me grows as I study the mat.

“For it is GOD which worketh in you both to will and to do of HIS good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13

The devil staggers backwards in shock as I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. What now God? I ask.

“For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil” 1 Peter 3:12

Bind it. Then continue walking in the truth child.

Devil, I bind you in this situation. You are never allowed to use it against me again in the name of Jesus Christ. Thank you Father. Thank you for showing me the truth.

I love you team-mate. I hope this helped you like it did me today.

God bless you!

How To: Restore Our Faith

How can we release the pressure? The devil has two tactics. He’ll try to either pressure you off the Word and hit you with depression, unworthiness, stress, condemnation, accusations from past sins and eventual unbelief, or; he’ll try to pleasure you off the Word with temptations and distractions. Have you felt an increase of pressure? Would you like some peace?

Believing is a conscious decision of the brain. It is also a potent weapon. If this were a physical battle, believing would be a nuclear warhead. Your believing/faith is what the devil wants to disable, distract, or steal from you. He does this by feeding you lies. He is the Father of Lies so that is no big surprise. But how do we keep our believing safe? How do we restore it, when it’s under attack? How do we use it as a shield when the fiery darts of discouragement come? Stop looking for the lies and first…

Believe the Truth!

Truth like what?

“I sought the Lord and He delivered me from all my fears.” Psalms 34;4

“Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us.” Psalms 62:8

“Behold, God [is] mine helper: the Lord [is] with them that uphold my soul.” Psalms 54:4

“It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect. HE maketh my feet like hinds’ feet and setteth me upon my high places.”

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:19

Who supplies your need? Your job or business? Is it your Grandpa? Is it your father, mother, or any human? NO. Believe the truth. God’s Word is truth. Who girds you with strength? Who delivers you from fear? Is it the doctors or the nurses? Is it your financial portfolio? Is it the equity you have in your house? When we believe the world’s opinions over the Word’s truth then the devil has stolen our most potent weapon. And he uses the sneaky little distractions. Who do you believe? God the maker of all the universe? Or a liar, a thief and a destroyer of man’s hearts? Be a believing believer.

“In whom the god of this world (the devil) hath blinded the minds of them which believe not,(with lies) lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” 2 Cor. 4:4

Look at these incredible next few verses! WOW!

“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to [give] the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, (the gift of holy spirit) that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. [We are] troubled on every side, yet not distressed; [we are] perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed…

17)…For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding [and] eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen [are] temporal; but the things which are not seen [are] eternal.” 2 Cor. 4: 6-10; 17-18

The second tip is…

God did not leave us without a spiritual weapon. Look at the verse above where I highlighted the scripture in bold. We have a treasure in our body! Remember the nine fruit of the spirit? Love, joy, longsuffering etc. Well, peace is one of them. We get peace, a fruit of the spirit, from operating the spirit. Why? Because one of the operations of the gift of holy spirit is discerning of spirits. If you suspect that evil is messing with your peace, ask God how to handle it. He may say bind them in the name of Jesus Christ. The name of Jesus Christ makes their knees bow and their tongues confess. The devil’s tremble at that name. Use it, because Jesus Christ won the war for us. Now, we win the daily battles with God’s mighty power. We do not fight a battle of flesh and blood. We fight against spiritual forces. Discerning of spirits is our night vision goggles. Once they are out of the scenario, then enjoy the peace!

Have you felt an increase of pressure? Is this a timely post? I’d love you’re feedback, and it only takes a second to comment below. Thanks and God bless you today!

Stay Inspired by God’s Light

After a ridiculously busy season of wedding, speaking, editing and classes things are beginning to slow back down to normal pace. It takes a few days to come off that speed, but once I had a chance to sit back and reflect I noticed my attitude slipped.

I started looking at all the ways I was being attacked by the adversary and how he was trashing the world and hurting so many lives. Boy, that really got me down. Before long, I found myself crying in a sad little heap.

Then I thought a wonderful thought.

Of course the world is depressing, it’s the Devil’s playground. I need to look to the light of God’s Word for my hope and encouragement.

Wow! Of course the devil is out there stealing, killing and destroying, that’s his three-fold ministry. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to wallow there, or open a door for him in my mind. Sometimes, I get so caught up looking for him, I forget I have to look towards the light! God is light and in HIM is no darkness at all. Does a runner concentrate on the other runners in the race or does he look to the finish line? What would happen if a pole-vaulter at the Olympics kept getting distracted by the crowd, the coach or the other teams as he ran towards that leap. We have to have that same kind of intense, forceful focus on God. My goal is to be a light, to be a light, a city on the hill, and to be filled with GOD’s light. We live on the offensive with God, always moving forward to what’s next. He acts as our defense.

So here is the prescription today for you. Cuddled up close to the Word and spend time praying in the spirit.

“Be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God” Phil. 4:6

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:7

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.” Phil. 4:8

“Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.” Phil. 4:9

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Phil. 4:13

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:19

“This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” 1 John 1:5

“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hillcannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matt. 5:13-15

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” Thess. 4:16-17

“Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.” 1 Thess. 5:5

“For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep (or died), we should live together with him. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

Put you’re focus on God, look towards His light and let it fill YOU with light. Memorize one of these above and pray in the Spirit today. Let God’s Spirit wrap you in comfort and blessing. The Holy Spirit was nick-named the “Comforter” for a reason. Ignore the devil, put down the paper, turn off the news channel and bathe in the glorious fountain of God’s love. Let your life be so filled to overflowing that you inspire others as well.

Where is Never Never Land?

Life is reality, but

our reality is not always Truth.

What happens when life doesn’t unfold the way you think it should? Years ago, I built my version of reality around me into a kind of fantasy world. If I didn’t like how things happened at some event, I exaggerated in my mind until it turned out differently. It was like going to Never Never Land on a little mental vacation. I’d daydream about not growing up, no responsibilities, my prince charming was going to ride up any minute…that sort of thing. I didn’t have to think of it the way it was–horrible–I could just go home and write in my journal and make it all disappear. This was a dangerous habit pattern. If I didn’t like how someone said something, or made me feel, I’d internalize it. Then, if asked, I’d spew forth all this gibberish about what a wonderful time I had, or how everything was wonderful all the time. In retrospect– there were symptoms, I stopped looking people in the eye, I kept very busy serving at events, I used fake platitudes to get by and basically stopped being my honest, fun-loving self. Then in the quiet of the night, I’d cry out to God and ask Him why I couldn’t get results in my prayers. I’d blame Him for falling short and failing me. Do you see what was wrong with that picture? It was a skewed world view based on the reality I decided to believe instead of the reality the way it really was.

Sometimes, I see this same symptomatic dichotomy functioning in people around me; yet I know they cry out in agony during the night watches to God, because they also deal with the symptoms of a life lacking in God’s rich abundance.

Why is this kind of overcompensation or exaggeration dangerous? It camouflages the devil’s movement in your life. Let’s face facts: the devil is sneaky. The secret to his success is the secrecy of his moves. If he can get you blaming yourself, or looking the other way he can do what ever he wants to the lives around you. If you’re not looking at reality, you’re not going to God to cast the devil out of your life using the power-filled name of Jesus Christ. If the devil can throw a brain-busting, self-esteem annihilating, fiery dart at you through a conversation, then he has you right where he wants you–defeated. Let’s call a spade a spade for once.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].” Eph. 6:12

Anytime someone, through conversation, gossip, media, or family issues makes you feel unworthy, accused, condemned, or sinful check the source! You are under a spiritual attack. Raise your Bible/sword and say; ON GUARD! These tactics of the devil’s are all about control. If the devil loses control over you, he will use these tactics to try to stop you from really seeing the situation for what it is. I always think to myself, “I smell a rat!” This is a perfect time for you to dive into the victory verses, and the overcomer verses in the Bible.

Oh and one more thing; if God is trying to give you a champion’s perspective, why do you continue to blame yourself? Why do you keep ducking your head in voluntary submission to the devil’s agenda? Most of the time, it’s because the devil beat the self-esteem out of you. This has gone on too long, to the point that you’re weak, defeated, and powerless. But God did not send sacrifice His Son for our freedom, so that we could remain someone else’s slave. We have to claim freedom and break those shackles open!

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Gal. 5:1

How? How do you stand against this mental bondage? Stand on the truth. The Word is truth.

“For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Heb. 4:12

God designed His Word for our freedom and the devil’s defeat. He designed His gift of holy spirit to fight Satan with great power. But first you need to put the Word on in your mind and act accordingly.

If you believe when you pray, be bold and act accordingly.

Once you accept your freedom in Christ, God makes reality so great you’ll have to pinch yourself.

God bless you today!

What Are You Forgetting?

What are you forgetting? I have often asked myself that question. Inevitably, I’ll walk out the door, arms loaded with “to-do” things and forget something back in the house. My family is learning that we have to figure “turn-around time” into our travel equation. What about before that, or at little times of crisis during the day? Can one thing bring an attitude turn-around for you? Here’s a little trick that will turn your whole day from negative whininess to positive cheerfulness.

“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:” Psalms 103:2

Does that say, remember all God’s benefits? Nope. Just don’t forget them all. Psalms 103 is a list! And what a list! I’m going to put them in list format instead of verse format, so you see what I mean.

  1. “Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; (ALL of them? Wow. Even the really bad ones…wow!)
  2. Who healeth all thy diseases; (ALL of them? Wow. Even the really bad ones…wow!) (I sense a trend…)
  3. Who redeemeth thy life from destruction;
  4. Who crowneth thee with loving kindness and
  5. Tender mercies; (These are my kind of crowns! What? I’m a girl. I like bling!) 🙂
  6. Who satisfieth thy mouth with good [things; so that] thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s. (The best anti-aging serum ever known.)
  7. The LORD executeth righteousness and
  8. Judgment for all that are oppressed. (Oppressed is pushed down, held down, forced into submission.)
  9. He made known his ways unto Moses, (That guy wrote the first five books of the Bible. Wow!)
  10. His acts unto the children of Israel.
  11. The LORD [is] merciful and
  12. Gracious,
  13. Slow to anger,
  14. And plenteous in mercy.
  15. He will not always chide: (I wonder if this is another word for nag?)
  16. Neither will he keep [his anger] for ever. (Doesn’t hold grudges. Phew!)
  17. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; (If he did…I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t survive. He IS God after-all.)
  18. Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. (That’s a relief! God does not own a bat for rewarding us back for our sins.)
  19. For as the heaven is high above the earth, [so] great is his mercy toward them that fear him. (How high is that? There’s a Figure of Speech here for anyone interested in further study. ;))
  20. As far as the east is from the west, [so] far hath he removed our transgressions from us.” (Another figure. Do the East and West ever meet? NO! Those sins are gone! If someone brings them back up it’s not God) Psalms 103: 3-12

Isn’t that a wonderful list of God’s benefits? And we only got to verse 12! The entire chapter is loaded with them yes, but what is this list? It’s a reminder. It reminds us of God’s goodness to His children. Last night I did this very thing in my own life. I couldn’t believe the joy that flooded my heart. I wrote as many of the blessings I could think of. You were on that list! You bless my life because you are searching for ways to fellowship closer with God. You are my fellow sojourners in His love.

Personally, I like a good shortcut. Don’t you? I want to cut the time, pain, grueling hours of confusion and/or heartbreak out of my walk with God. I just want to get to the gooey center. Making a list like this, is a shortcut to thankfulness. When someone is thankful to God, they have an awfully hard time being mad at Him. See shortcut. Viola’.

“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.” Col. 3:15

God bless you today!

A letter from God

Are you falling to pieces?

Do you feel like the world is passing mindlessly by?

Do you test your ready-made smile in the mirror, hoping to pass it off as a happy one?

Have you ever wondered, if anyone cared or knew that you felt this way?

Are you choking back a sob right now, knowing that you’ve had one of those days?

Let me tell you,

You are so precious to me.

I’m here for you.

In the dark lonely nights,

I’m just a thought away.

When you are feeling lost and alone…

I’m here for you.

I set the universe in motion, I put the sun in the sky. I timed the earth’s internal clock and I created the seed of all living things.

I’m big enough to be in the smallest details of your life.

I’m here for you.

All I ever wanted was you as my child, and a family to call my own.

Before the overthrow of the heavens, I chose you.

And I am here, whispering your name.

When you fall to pieces…even if there are a million tiny shards, I’ll stay with you and put them all back together again, because I love you.

When you woke this morning, I waited there.

I know you worry,

but don’t.

I eat problems big and small for breakfast, and yours my child, will be no different. Come, we’ll sit and talk them out together. You’ll see them disappear.

I saw when you said you were sorry, for the fiftieth time today. I forgave you and forgot the very first time.

I love those sweet moments when you study my Word, and you see how much love I have in there for you.

A million nights of darkness could never put out the single light, that’s inside you. But my adversary the devil tries to convince you it could.

It won’t.

Your personality, your quirky sense of humor, your laugh, your inner most heart’s desires, all of these, I know and love about you, because you are precious to me.

When I think of you, my thoughts are to bless, protect, and love you. I long for goodness all the days of your long life. I wish above all things, that you are healthy and prosperous, then I gave you the gift of holy spirit to help you make it so.

Our time together is not short, it will go on for an eternity and beyond. I love you, I have blessed you, because you are my child. Could you ask anything less of a parent?

Jesus Christ, gave his life willingly, when I showed him all that was to be done. He knew what he had to do would be tough, but then…

I showed him you.

When you are falling to pieces…remember, discouragement is a trick, condemnation is down-judgement, and self-loathing, or guilt, is none of mine.

I am love, I am light, in my heart is goodness and truth. Follow after righteousness and you will be filled.

Truth needs no defense. It stands the test of time. It endures the scourging flames of accusation and then makes men free.

I love you my child.

Come, walk with me.

I imagine a letter from God would sound like this, in my own words. God bless you!
