All The Goodies You Could want in Just One Chapter

Do you need a pick-me-up? I was astonished today as I read through Romans 8 again. In my Bible, it’s highlighted, underlined and notes scattered throughout. It’s really beautiful, but then today as I simply and without notions of study read the words my mind came alive. This is HOW God wants us to live, it’s how He thinks about us. It’s so remarkable. It was true the verse in Jeremiah.

Here for your enjoyment, Romans 8, take what you need for a great day today.

(Oh and I added some context and literal translations in parenthesis for better clarity.)

Rom 8:1-39 KJV

1 [There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.  2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded [is] death; but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind [is] enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God

6 For to be carnally minded [is] death; but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind [is] enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.

Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ [be] in you, the body [is] dead because of sin; but the Spirit [is] life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken (make alive) your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify (blow to smithereens) the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together. 18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time [are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

19 For the earnest expectation of the creature (all creation, heaven and earth) waiteth for the manifestation (the bringing out)  of the sons of God. 20 For the creature (all creation, heaven and earth) was made subject (put under the authority) to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected [the same] in hope, 21 Because the creature (all creation, heaven and earth) itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption (the devil’s dominion) into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23 And not only [they], but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, [to wit], the redemption of our body.

24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? 25 But if we hope for that we see not, [then] do we with patience wait for [it].

26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what [is] the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to [the will of] God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate [to be] conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. 31 What shall we then say to these things? If God [be] for us, who [can be] against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? [It is] God that justifieth. 34 Who [is] he that condemneth? [It is] Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

God bless you today!

What Kind of Person Would You Be?

You have to read this post today, because there are different ways to live, and God has something wonderful to say about it and you.

“For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye (you) received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually works also in you that believe.”1 Thessalonians 2:13

Only the real deal Word of God can heal lives. Only the Real Deal Love (agape) of God can heal hearts. People change their minds all the time, yet beg God for a change of heart or a change in their life. How do you get that change?? By Receiving the Word the Right Way

It all starts with the word “received” in the second line of the verse. “Received” is the translated from the Greek word…paralambanō. It comes from the root word lambanō. It means “to receive”, but in the Greek, there is also another word for “receive”. It is dechomai.  Both of these words are translated into “receive” and have caused a ton of confusion in today’s Christian.

Let’s look at what they mean.

Dechomai is a subjective reception indicating that by a person’s own decision they received something, but nothing was manifested from the receipt, nothing was done with it. What was received was not manifested into the senses world.

Action” is the heart’s barometer measuring the condition, changes and beliefs one holds dear.

Lambano is an objective reception indicating that by a person’s decision he manifests outwardly that which has be received inwardly.

Silhouette of jumping woman against the sun

Here is a great example of the words received being used.

“Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received (dechomai-spiritually) the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive (lambano-manifest in the senses world) the Holy Ghost:” Acts 8:14,15

Why was Paul so thankful for those Thessalonians? How did they “RECEIVE” the word of God?

“For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received (para-lambano- received it into manifestation in the senses world) the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received (dechomai-without manifesting it in the senses world)  it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually works (energeo, or energizes) also in you that believe.”1 Thessalonians 2:13

These believers used what they were given. They acted on it. What kind of things happened when they did that?

“But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:” 1 Thessalonians 3:6

These believers kept on standing and kept on doing what they were taught. Yeah it was hard, yes, their faith was tested, but they knew what they had been given.

Do you know what you have been given?

Do you know how much of a big deal it is when you stand for God? He knows it’s hard, but believe me it’s much harder without God. Let your life so tell the story of your stand and faith that when someone hears negative, they don’t believe it. They have seen you acting on your faith. What do you do when you are faced with negative situations? Do you give up? Or do you continue to manifest the Word of Life? Change is hard. It requires our full attention so when you have something this powerful pouring into your life and world, do something with it.

God bless you today!

3 Kinds of Hard Times and 1 Way to Prosper

At some point in your life you hear this phrase. “Tough times build your character.”

Then you think, “Okay, I have enough character!”

God promised us the more abundant life. Should that be enough to set us on the right track? After twenty some years studying the Word and bumbling through mistake after mistake myself, I’ve narrowed it down to three possible ways a person can fall on hard times, and but there’s only one way to prosper.

Winning the race-001

We Get Hit With Temptations or Pressures by the Devil and Fall into Hard Times.

Our bodies and minds are very frail sometimes. We get tricked into thinking something is a good way to react to a pressure, or temptation and YAMMOAHH we are down for the count. Diseases, sickness, pleasures and temptations come crashing in and we are tossed around like a rag doll.

“That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive” Ephesians 4:14

I had a time in my life in my late teens, early twenties when I’d go party with my friends. After a few beers you forget which one is the designated driver and things went down hill fast. This lifestyle can be a habit. Habits are hard to break. We can make a habit out of having hard times, but it really bites.

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23

In the end, the wages of sin is death. This is a principle. Death as in “corrosion”. It corrodes our heart, our mind, our life, our finances and our motivation. Life on this rock without abundance, blessings upon blessings and the wealth of understanding or growth that comes from getting God’s wisdom and input.  The next way is…

We’ve heard the Word, but not enough to Believe on It

God has done a really huge thing for us. He gave us salvation but then he also asks us to renew our mind. God never does anything for us that He asked us to do for ourselves. It is on us to search out His wisdom. It is on us to learn His ways, His Word and His Will. He never forces it on us. It’s a personal choice to seek God and His truth.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” 2 Timothy 3:16

What I’ve seen people do is this. God exposes them to a better way to live their life, a smoother way to operate or a “correction”. Some of you who are sensitive to these little corrections catch on quicker, but some of us slow ones need a few reminders.  Let’s take these quick verses as an example.

“Be  ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;” Ephesians 5:1

The word followers is the Greek word “mimētēs” which means to mimick. So we are supposed to love like God loves, act like God acts. How do we find that out?

We go over to 1 Corinthians 13. This probably the most memorized and read section of scripture in the whole world. Keep in mind that God is LOVE.

“Charity (Love or Agape) suffereth long, and is kind; charity (love) envieth not; charity (Love) vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh (calculates and records) no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

This is a list of 15 characteristics of the love of God. God who is love is always longsuffering and kind. It or rather, God, is not easily provoked, nor does He calculate and record all our evil against us. If this is how He acts and we are supposed to be imitators of Him, it stands to reason that we should learn everything we can about these characteristics and try to incorporate them into our life.

When we know how we are supposed to act, but don’t do it. That’s on us. So we have to keep working on us. And really what would it hurt to work hard and do it? It’s not like we have to bleed and die on a cross or anything. Jesus Christ already did the hard part. We have the easy part! Lol…

Those kind of hard times make our prayer life a hit miss target practice. Our results are patchy and there are looming problems on the horizon.

The third way and the most dangerous way to mess up is…

We’ve heard enough of the Truth to believe, but choose not.

“But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven” Matthew 10:33

God is no respecter of persons. He doesn’t judge based on what our status is at church or how long we’ve been a deacon. He sees if we have fulfilled the conditions of the promises in His Word. Of course there is mercy and grace by the tons. But when our actions are deliberate, conscious and against truth, we have tied His hands of blessing.

Reproof is the correction of error that has become a habit pattern or a doctrine in our lives.

Here’s the facts, we can’t possibly know everything about God. Either He is all-knowing and all-wise, or He isn’t and He fits in our man-made boxes of religion. I was told once that it takes a huge amount of spiritual maturity just to believe that God is good always. Ha! Imagine that one for starters. God is ALWAYS good. If that is true, we can’t blame Him for all the sickness and death in the world, we have to blame someone else.

There is only one right way to prosper, to seek Him.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33

Seek and keep seeking. I know now that I have a long way to go before I get there. I’m always adjusting. In fact, just this morning I asked God who I need to apologize to and change my attitude towards. THERE was a LIST! Ha!

“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:” Romans 3:10

I think that’s why humility is such a big deal to God.

On that note, God bless you today!

“Commit thy Works Unto the Lord and Thy Thoughts Will Be Established.” Proverbs 16:3

Let’s break that down.

The first word “Commit” is very interesting because it is the Hebrew word “galal” and is translated into several different words. Most commonly it’s translated, “roll” or “roll down”. When the Jacob found or dug a well of water his people would cover it by rolling a large stone over the mouth of the hole. When they wanted their sheep or cattle to drink, the men would then push the stone out-of-the-way. It protected the water, but it also took some work to get it moved. The stone protected their most valuable asset, water. They lived in a very dry area. That water was life-giving.

“And they said, We cannot, until all the flocks be gathered together, and till they roll H1556 the stone from the well’s mouth; then we water the sheep.” Genesis 29:8

They had to put their backs into it and push with all the power and force of their bodily strength. When we commit to something, we have to put our backs into it too.

“Thy Works,” is the next phrase. Those words are translated from “ma`aseh”

Here’s the list of the meanings.

Deed, work,  thing done, act, work, labor, business, pursuit, undertaking, enterprise, achievement, deeds, works (of deliverance and judgment), work, thing made. Work (of God)

Here’s some examples of how it’s used;

“And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work H4639 and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.” Genesis 5:29

What do you DO for God. IF you are are minister, get out and minister, if you are a helper, get out and help, if you are a prophet get out and DO the work with all the strength you can muster.

“Unto God,” is translated from, unto Yĕhovah, or Jehovah. There are seven names of God, this is the one that means Supreme God, or One true God.

“These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD H3068 God made the earth and the heavens,” Genesis 2:4

This is the most supreme commander, all-powerful, all-knowing all loving God. SO He’s the guy we obey. Is Jesus Christ that Guy? Simply put. No. He’s Jesus Christ, God’s son. God is God. He’s who we get our orders from. Even Jesus didn’t claim to be “God”. He knew that would be blaspheming his Father and the Ruler of all things.

“And thy thoughts” , is all one phrase in Proverbs 16:3 and translated from one word, machashabah.  Machashabah means literally thought, device, plan or purpose.

Here’s a usage of the verse;

“Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices (machashabah) which ye wrongfully imagine against me.” Job 21:27

These are your inner desires, plans and motives or they could be someone else’s. The word is neither positive nor negative.

Wow are you getting excited? I am.

“Shall be established” is one little Hebrew word, kuwn. It means, to be established, be stable, be secure, be enduring. To be fixed, be securely determined. To be directed aright, be fixed aright, be steadfast (moral sense). To prepare, be ready,  and to be prepared, be arranged, be settled.

Here’s one way it is used;

“And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.” Genesis 41:32

That verse in Proverbs is an amazing reminder to have your feet firmly planted, rooted and established on the One True God. It also tells me that your thoughts, perceptions, and understanding of why God had you do something will come after you obey. So many of us get that confused. Commit thy works, just do what He asked. Don’t question, don’t argue. God knows what His plan is. He sees all things.

Listen to the verse right before this one. “All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.” Proverbs 16:2.

We think we know what is going on, when God sees every aspect including spiritual influences.

Someone told me a phrase once; When things come up this should be your instinctual reaction.

  1. Stay Calm. Having emotional knee jerk reactions is our choice. Everytime. WE choose how to react.
  2. Take out the Spirits, God has given us great power to affect change right here on earth. Use it in the name of Jesus Christ our power of attorney.
  3. Walk in Love. This is our only way of knowing we’re doing things right. God is love, when we ask Him what to do next, we walk in love.

God knows this situation inside and out and He asks you to walk in Love through it all. How can you do that when you are emotionally tangled up in the situation? Beats me. Emotions are there for a reason, but we have to make sure they are under our control.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. Proverbs 3:5-7

Or how about this one in the new testament?

“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Romans 8:6

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they ARE the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Romans 8:14-15

When we commit our works we get rid of fear. We get rid of worry and pride too. We have life and peace. Get your feet moving my friend.

What’s Next God? What’s NEXT? There are billions of people, millions of choices for your life and even more importantly one great big God who loves you and saved you. YOU ARE POWERFUL! Each choice to be led by God is crippling to the enemy and his arsenal of fear. Choose to believe that your very intimate and loving Father will guide you and protect you in every circumstance. You are an heir to His Spiritual Fortune. Claim your right and place. You deserve it!

And I love you dearly.

God bless you today!

Plant God’s Word, Grow the Abundant Life, Harvest His Love

In so doing that you will…

Avoid being Pigeon Holed

pigeon hole

Sometimes we get so hung up with what the Devil is promoting; death, disease, error, confusion we become defensive and then go on the defense. When really love is on the offense. Love moves forward, love takes the lead, love is constantly planting in new ground. We should always be asking God, “What’s next?” What can I do to bless this person or that person? What can I do to love without hypocrisy? What kindness can I bestow? How can I give when the pressure is on? Where do I go next on this path God? God might just tell you to smile at a total stranger.

God honors conditions.

What would you do if you had an employee who was always asking you those kind of questions about your company?  Here are some examples in the Word of that kind of heart.

“Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshing floors. Therefore David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.” 1 Samuel 23:1-2

David asked, what do I do God? In that situation, David succeeded in battle. In fact, he did that over and over again. David did what it says in Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

But, you may say, I can’t hear God’s voice.

“For I am the LORD, I change not;” Malachi 3:6a

If He spoke to them then He still speaks today. He still moves today, and He’s still in the miracle business. But we must trust and let Him direct our steps, otherwise the conditions are not fulfilled and we will not see results.

We must become like Abraham became…fully persuaded.

“He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.” Romans 4:20-21

How do we become persuaded like that? We start with little things. Ask God what route to take to work today. Use short, “yes” or “no” questions, “left” or “right” questions. Start practicing with the baby steps. You are going to miss it more than you get it in the beginning. But then, when big situations come up, you will be tuned in. God wants you to treat every time like the first time. It’s easy to assume God wants you to do the same thing in each scenario, but resist the urge. That’s how Christians get pigeon-holed as kooks.

When He works within you, both to will and to do of His good pleasure as it says in Philippians 2:13 it is in the quiet of your mind. Let the answers drop into your thoughts. Its your will, your actions. You decide to do them. He never takes away your free will choice.

I’ve heard it said that you need to practice doing this at least 2,000 times before you will be sure you are hearing God over your own mind. Do you know what that means? Our society is so geared towards distraction that you have to really focus. In David’s day and time, he didn’t have internet, cell phones, traffic jams or television, a few bleating sheep were his constant companions when he got started.

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” James 1:5

By the time he was in the midst of the roar of battle, he had practiced enough to hear God clearly working in his own spirit and mind. God does not change. He did it for David and He will do it for you too. It takes patience, perseverance and practice, but like anything worth doing, its work and worth getting it right. Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t hear God right away. It will take time.

Practice, Practice, Practice

This is real and it takes time, but it will also get you out of the defense and onto the offense with God. God wants us to hone our spiritual abilities. He gave them to us after all. Hearing Him speak to you is a biggie. When you are so busy seeing God’s direction in your life you will be a hard one to pigeon-hole.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:” Ephesians 1:3

God bless you today!

What Does God Respect?

Test Your Respect

You are standing outside a fancy restaurant and a young man (total stranger) in his late twenties,  who is very good-looking, pulls up in a red Maserati. His leggy, female passengers step out in pumps and lip gloss laughing loudly. The attendant grabs his keys for the valet and the three of them, one girl under each arm, walk past you into the restaurant. The smell of expensive cologne and alcohol hit you like a tidal wave.

fancy car

What can you conclude about this young man? In this day of hasty impressions and false pretenses, that we can draw a quick conclusion and under 30 seconds, make a judgment. We take in the information based on our five senses, what we heard, saw, smelled, touched or tasted of their life.

Now, wait a second Terri.

God gives us these senses as tools so we can make snap judgments. Its’ one of the ways we human beings can protect ourselves. Even in the early days of humanity we had nothing to rely on outside these instinctual protocol tools. For the safety of our clan, our family, our herds or our crops we had to be quick. Do we need to still use them? Yes, definitely! But we must also know how God applies favor or respect, shouldn’t we?

How does God Decide Who Deserves Respect?

What does God look at when making a move to bless or protect? Does he look at how many times we “said” we loved Him, or how many times we promised to read our Bible? Does He look at what He can deduce based on seeing us?

“For there is no respect of persons (status, looks, condition, color, race, prestige, position, promises, power, or pedigree) with God.” Romans 2:11

“But God, I’m a really great believer. I go to church all the time, I know you are merciful and love me. I am a good person.”

When you think about our five senses we are actually outrageously handicap in our ability to see the motivation, intent and thought life of a man or woman. There is no way for us to know that the young man in his twenties with the leggy ladies, was battling cancer and received, as a prize, an extravagant one night on the town with anyone he wanted. He chose his girlfriend and his little sister and he plans to live it up because he’s been diagnosed as a terminal patient.

That’s why God never places any deference, extra blessing, protection or respect upon a person because of who they are. You just can’t be a super star and get God’s attention.  Darn it, I guess that counts me out. Lol…

You see it’s actually brilliant the way He does give deference. He knows how limited five-senses judgements are. So how does He, God, the maker of all humanity judge a person? How does He decide who to give out His benevolence? He

Conditions

We have to meet the conditions. First one is, Romans 10:9-10.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10

There are two steps or conditions here for the human to meet before the incredible gift of salvation can come to pass. They must confess, believe in their heart. That is the condition each of us has to meet. Whoa… So that means anyone of a sound mind who hears these verses and believes on them can be saved, no matter their position in life. The condition in question becomes one of the heart and mind. It’s an inside job folks.

What about God’s money, blessing or protection? There’s a process or condition to meet there as well.

“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” Malachi 3:10

Do you see the condition? Tithing. What a simple one! Ha! Anyone can do this! Even a small child! We make things so complicated in this world but do you see how brilliant and yet how simple and easy this is? When someone does not meet these simple conditions, they simply do not receive the promised blessing. It’s like any procedure we have in this world. We go to the store, we give them our money, we walk away with the items in our cart. It’s simple procedure!

What is does God respect?

Conditions. God is a respecter of conditions because they reveal by “action” what is inside a person’s heart and mind. It’s like being around someone who is all talk and no action. Don’t you know immediately what that person is like? So does God. We can’t just say, God hand over the blessings, I’m your kid and I want it now. We must fulfill the condition.

Think about it from His standpoint.

God has billions of people to work with. How could we comprehend the difficulty of that process? God has a very efficient and effective way of getting blessings and protection to His people. He just watches for whoever fulfills His commands. That tells Him everything. What would He know if you followed this next one?

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.” Proverbs 3:5-7

This truth should relieve you. It should bring you great comfort and joy! How easy is it to just trust in Him, just ask Him? The process itself is really very simple.

God bless you today!

Pure Simple Joy

Silhouette of jumping woman against the sun

What is the most powerful force on earth? Is it fear? Is it joy? Is it heart wrenching pain? Nope. It is love. They say there are situations where Grandmother’s have pulled cars off their grandkids and pregnant mothers have moved refrigerators off their toddlers. Love energized that incredible act of adrenaline. Men who can’t swim jump in and save another person. Of course one could argue, well Terri those things were done out of fear, not love. I beg to differ. Because in most all of those stories the hero says something like this. “I wasn’t even afraid, I just suddenly knew what had to be done and did it.”

“I wasn’t even afraid.” What a statement! As if they knew that fear would lock them down and keep them from doing what needed to be done.

Do we ever have that kind of love in a relationship? What if there is an emergency but in a desperate, sort of, passive way? Are we willing to love and do what needs to be done in those kind of situations?

Jesus Christ knew what needed to be done. He didn’t face it with fear, he faced it with love. Could we do that?

What if we know in our hearts that love, agape, is the most powerful force on earth? When we use agape, we say the right thing at the right time using “Rehma” which can only come from God. We have the right heart, the right mind. It’s all lined up and done without hypocrisy. WOW! Who could resist such a force?

I know I couldn’t.

A great way to learn to love like that is to learn first how to get quiet. Quiet your mind. It rattles on and on all day, just tell it to be quiet for 10 minutes a day and you’ll be surprised how much easier it is to hear God. Our minds are like puppies let off a leash running to and fro. We have to train them, discipline them.

“And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:

And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.” 1 Kings 19:11-12

Then we ask; God, if you were me how would you handle this situation?

The first answer, before you can get your mind there, is His. But always double-check it by asking over and over just till you’re sure. He will never tell you anything that contradicts God’s Laws, or Man’s Laws. Practice this at least two thousand times. Yep. I said two thousand. Which means more than once a day for a year or two. Sadly enough that’s how distracting our society is.

I used to think, “Well, if I just had a quiet walk in the mountains or a place far away in the peaceful wilderness, then I could hear God and get closer to Him.”

So what? I’m gonna have to wait till I get some spare time to be away from my family and business and all my responsibilities to get a hold of God? God wants to help me out now in the midst of the busy life I live. It is available to have inner peace and a spiritual walk with God every day at every moment no matter where you live or what your busy lifestyle. God IS a pretty BIG GUY, after all.

Here’s what happens, and I’m sure I haven’t seen it all. You start putting the Word of God in your heart through the Bible everyday. You start spending time learning and practicing all nine manifestations everyday and before long, God and you are in a continuous conversation with short pauses of silence and wonder. JOY explodes in your heart every time you see Him at work in your life or in those around you. It’s literally impossible not to love others with that real deal love of God, while filled with His love. You can’t help it. It’s like an eagle living in your heart, ready to burst out at any second.

“This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” 1 John 1:5

It doesn’t mean that you won’t deal with tough situations. It means that you deal with them a little better and a little better and a little better as you grow.

I feel like I rambled a little today but I hope you feel encouraged. God’s just the best thing going. He’s the new high.

Get on and go!

God bless you today!
