What Prevails in Your Life?

Many a saint and hero win the race by prevailing through dark times. Dark storm clouds gather yet they persevere and push on. Our history books ar full of this struggle! Good versus evil, right versus wrong. But what will the historian say about us? Will they write epitaphs of our courage? Will chapters be written about how we faced our fears and succeeded no matter the circumstances?

I think that all depends on one little word with a great big meaning. I believe it’s in the word “prevail”.

It appears in Acts 19 in this context.

“So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed” Acts 19:20

What a usage! What a statement of fact! We have it on our wall by our door in our home. Every time I see that verse it encourages me.  It exhorts me! It pumps me up! What prevailed? The Word of God!

But first, it had to grow. It had to grow inside each individual person from the inside out. Our lot in life is not to simply suck air and hope things turn out great. We are destined for bigger things. Great things! But first we must work on us. IF the Word of God is going to prevail out in our schools, our work and our churches, it must first prevail in us.

Let’s take this a step further. What does prevail mean?

It is, as used here, the Greek word, “ischyo” and  it has several meanings.

  1. to be strong

    1. to be strong in body, to be robust, to be in sound health

  2. to have power

    1. to have power as shown by extraordinary deeds

      1. to exert, wield power, to have strength to overcome

    2. to be a force, avail

    3. to be serviceable

    4. to be able, can

Wow, right. that is one loaded word!  It has all the potential of massive amounts of creative and unyielding energy and power. It is agape love, earth triumphant forces of nature and God in manifestation doing the impossible all wrapped in one! I mean, WOWZAH! We don’t really see the emphasis until we see the rest of the usage. Let’s talk about that.

Where else is Ischyo used?

“But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole G2480need not a physician, but they that are sick.” Matthew 9:12

They that are powerful, prevailing and healthy need not a physician! Ha! They don’t need to be fixed, they are already living the abundant life, they are already seeing God work in powerful ways. They don’t need to be patched up and put together.

How about this one.

“And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.” John 21:6

“Not able” is the usage. There was so much fish, they could not prevail over them, they could not pull them into the boat.

“And they were G2480 not able G2480 to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.” Acts 6:10

Stephen spoke with so much wisdom that the words he spoke prevailed, they were not able to resist the wisdom. Wow! Just speak the Word, let it do the prevailing.

“For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth G2480 any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.” Galatians 5:6

Love prevails, not circumstances.

“I can do  all (G2480) things through Christ which strengtheneth me” Philippians 4:13

Now we’re getting somewhere! I can prevail over all things through Christ which strengthens me! WOW! What a usage! Are you stuck? Are you feeling less than prevalent? Let this word sink into and heal your soul!

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth G2480much.” James 5:16

I just love the Word of God! This is how it prevails! When we look at all the ways God used this word in His Word to heal us and take care of our hearts. Do we really need to wonder? Do we need to worry?

Take heart and be of a good courage my friend. Keep praying, keep going and know that God loves you and it’s Him and His power that will prevail, you have only to believe it and walk in it!

God bless you today!

What Sort Of People Does God Give Everything To?

Very few of us know what really pushes God’s “Give” button or if there is a button at all. Personally, I’d like to just enter my pin number and out would come my blessing. Wouldn’t that be nice? We make God into an ATM machine.

ATM

But no, God is a person. He has feelings. He has dreams and goals, just like we do. What is God’s goal  in this verse?

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” 3 John 2

It doesn’t seem like I deserve all that, especially after the ATM comment. Lol… BUT look at that. He wishes that we prosper and be in good health, above all things. That is amazing. It also sounds like there are two of us involved. Me and God. God wishes it, but am I supposed to make it happen? Or will He help me out?  How does it work?

That’s the great thing about being the right sort of person. For the right sort of person, it just happens. No, the “right sort” is not a religion, race or gender. Look at this old promise from way back in Psalms.

“But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.” Psalms 37:11

The “meek” sound like they have it made! What does it take to be meek?

I once heard these two definitions and they stuck with me.

Humility is being willing to listen to what God has to say. (Over our own opinions.)
Meekness is being willing to do what God wants done.

God empowers, blesses and needs people who are doers! “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only,” James 1:22

That can’t be too hard right? God does love us and wants us to prosper and be in good health. God is love. God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all. I’ve been meek to a boss, and I’m sure he didn’t care if I prospered or was in good health. I’ve been meek to teachers, friends, parents and colleagues. Being meek to God, now is that really that hard? God’s a big guy.

What if He wanted me to do something I couldn’t do?

“For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.” 1 John 5:3

“Grievous” is translated from the Greek word, “barys”, and literally means; “hard to do.” God’s commandments are not grievous, or hard to do. Isn’t that a relief? This verse also mentions something besides meekness, and that’s love. God loves us and now we know how to love Him back. Wow! We just have to do His commandments. Isn’t that meekness?

Meekness is doing what He says to do without an attitude.

God just needs something done. He doesn’t have feet and hands or a mouth. He is Spirit and works inside you for good and for His glory. His glory is ours too. I’m going to add another layer here.

After the day of Pentecost, suddenly it was available to DO a lot more for God. He gave us salvation and the gift of holy spirit which is our permanent connection and interface that seamlessly operates nine manifestations, or functions. These functions are nine of the biggest hugs you’ll ever get from God. And the more you sow, the more you reap. What do we reap? A harvest, or fruit of the harvest. SO here we are working for God, “DO”ing things for Him, like speaking in tongues, getting word of wisdom and word of knowledge, discerning spirits, faith, miracles and healing. I mean we are little powerhouses now and having a blast doing it all the way down the line. What do we get back?

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:23-24

Did you see that? Our fruit of the operating and living of our lives doing the work of the Spirit, is all the stuff we need to inherit the Earth. God asks us to be meek, then, for being meek; He gives us more meekness. Being meek, becomes easy! God asks us to walk in love and gentleness, and for doing that we reap the love and gentleness. God asks us to be at peace, and for doing that we reap abundant, deep, abiding peace!

The longer you live like this, what do you think happens? I would guess you begin seeing the MORE than ABUNDANT life up close and personal. God fills all your cups, He plugs all the leaks and He literally meets your need, almost before you know you have one. Why? Because of that dusty old promise in Psalms.

“But the meek shall (absolutely) inherit the earth; and shall (absolutely) delight themselves in the abundance of peace.” Psalms 37:11

What joy! What rejoicing!

We have a great big wonderful God and He respects conditions, not persons or status. The condition here is meekness. Are you willing to have this kind of life? I know I am, and it’s much better than having an ATM for a Heavenly Father.

God bless you today!

What Kind of Person Would You Be?

You have to read this post today, because there are different ways to live, and God has something wonderful to say about it and you.

“For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye (you) received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually works also in you that believe.”1 Thessalonians 2:13

Only the real deal Word of God can heal lives. Only the Real Deal Love (agape) of God can heal hearts. People change their minds all the time, yet beg God for a change of heart or a change in their life. How do you get that change?? By Receiving the Word the Right Way

It all starts with the word “received” in the second line of the verse. “Received” is the translated from the Greek word…paralambanō. It comes from the root word lambanō. It means “to receive”, but in the Greek, there is also another word for “receive”. It is dechomai.  Both of these words are translated into “receive” and have caused a ton of confusion in today’s Christian.

Let’s look at what they mean.

Dechomai is a subjective reception indicating that by a person’s own decision they received something, but nothing was manifested from the receipt, nothing was done with it. What was received was not manifested into the senses world.

Action” is the heart’s barometer measuring the condition, changes and beliefs one holds dear.

Lambano is an objective reception indicating that by a person’s decision he manifests outwardly that which has be received inwardly.

Silhouette of jumping woman against the sun

Here is a great example of the words received being used.

“Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received (dechomai-spiritually) the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive (lambano-manifest in the senses world) the Holy Ghost:” Acts 8:14,15

Why was Paul so thankful for those Thessalonians? How did they “RECEIVE” the word of God?

“For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received (para-lambano- received it into manifestation in the senses world) the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received (dechomai-without manifesting it in the senses world)  it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually works (energeo, or energizes) also in you that believe.”1 Thessalonians 2:13

These believers used what they were given. They acted on it. What kind of things happened when they did that?

“But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:” 1 Thessalonians 3:6

These believers kept on standing and kept on doing what they were taught. Yeah it was hard, yes, their faith was tested, but they knew what they had been given.

Do you know what you have been given?

Do you know how much of a big deal it is when you stand for God? He knows it’s hard, but believe me it’s much harder without God. Let your life so tell the story of your stand and faith that when someone hears negative, they don’t believe it. They have seen you acting on your faith. What do you do when you are faced with negative situations? Do you give up? Or do you continue to manifest the Word of Life? Change is hard. It requires our full attention so when you have something this powerful pouring into your life and world, do something with it.

God bless you today!

I didn’t Know What to Do…Until I Found You

Have you ever been in a situation where questions are overwhelming and they out-weigh all the answers? It is stressful! I’ve been in that place. Where the only answers I get are negative and the only options I see in front of me involve sacrifice from me and I want to cry. And then, I talk with someone, or meet someone new, and suddenly all of that changes. Suddenly, I have hope again and it came from the most unlikely thing. I feel like everything will be okay.

It reminds me of the Samaritan women at Jacob’s well.

She had seen her share of hard times, in fact, she was living a nightmare! She bounced from bad relationship, to bad relationship and I bet she was feeling  hopeless and brokenhearted.

6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with [his] journey, sat thus on the well: [and] it was about the sixth hour. 7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. 8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) 9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

Here’s one more man asking something of her, but he seemed different. He was a Jew and Jews were not allowed to converse or do anything with Samaritans.

10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knew the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. 11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? 12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? 13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: 14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. 15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

This man had answers and he seemed to know about something a lot bigger than she did. He was talking about living water? What is this living water? Is it something she could physically haul around in a jar? Everlasting life? Whoa, now this man is really peaking her interest. Her heart leaps with joy at the thought of living water. Hope springs anew.

“16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither. 17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband.”

He’s going to judge me and surely he will push me away! I better tell him the kinder version.

“Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: 18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.

19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. 21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

24 God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth. 25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messiah cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am [he].

Suddenly this Woman Knew What to Do

Jesus Christ had compassion for this woman, but he also told her one of the biggest mysteries of all time. All-be-it still cloaked in mystery, but looking back he revealed the truth about the salvation plan.

Do you think this woman had found answers? Do you think she had hope?

“27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her? 28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, 29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? 30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.”

Jesus hadn’t condemned her, he brought her answers. Answers that changed her life forever. Those same answers apply to us today. How many of us know how to worship God in Spirit? If you would like to learn what the Bible says about it, email me and I’ll send you a handout explaining what it is and how to do it. Fountain of Youth-001

Living waters are still flowing, let them change your life forever.

God Bless You Today!

Clearing Your Spiritual Desktop

wpid-clean-desk

I once heard of a corporate CEO who had a table for a desk at his office, an outbox and a notebook with a pen. He had a computer but it was tucked out of sight and he delegated everything that would potentially waste his time, like signing checks, filing, sorting or stapling. He just didn’t do any of that because he knew what the goal was, to grow his company. He couldn’t do that if he was running all the little errands and keeping track of all the zillion details.

Here are a few keys to managing a spiritual desktop.

Sort your time from big priorities to small.

What are the most important things on your spiritual desk this year? Growth is always a huge one for me. But how?

It starts with the 5 basics for spiritual growth. There five keys laid out in the Bible to HUGE growth. Commit to doing them everyday and making them a habit. I wrote a book on this very subject. If you Google “5 Basics for Growth” or click on this link, you can down load it off Amazon to your kindle, or iphone for $2.99. It can tell you in a quick read where to begin and what the five amazing habits are. This book is loaded with insights on how to grow your walk through the
basics.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Clear off the Harmful Clutter Don’t just Hide It From ViewClean_desk

We very seldom look at clutter and think it could hurt us. That’s where we are wrong. Especially, when it comes to spiritual. What is spiritual clutter? Spiritual clutter is a grudge, or bitterness, or hate, strife or envy.

“For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.” James 3:16

Spiritual clutter kinks the hose of God’s blessing in our life. We want Him to bless us and we want that hose to be wide open, but spiritual clutter really shuts it down. How do we know if we have spiritual clutter? It’s really not that hard, just think about someone you don’t like, or someone who has hurt you in the past. If you are still upset, that’s clutter. Those kind of hurts can cause spiritual wounds and weakness, even loss of connection with God. I don’t know about you but being out of fellowship with God sucks the joy out of my life faster than anything. How do you get back in fellowship over these issues?

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, (broken fellowship) and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

Just own it. God doesn’t want you to go on and on about it, just admit that you were thinking wrong and let Him help you get past all the hurt about it. This simple verse can be very hard to practice. Especially when they are big things you’re still mad about. Hey, I don’t care if you agree, it’s your hose of blessing.  And by the way, I have to do the Word too ya know, I don’t get out of this either. Ha! And this one is a bugger.

Someone told me once that they like to clear the clutter everyday. They make it a habit to go to God immediately when things come up and get them taken care of. That habit pattern saved him from years of heart ache and bitterness. A big claim, but wow! Imagine having a new year and a fresh clean slate like that and then keeping it everyday.

Victory is only a thought away.

Now that we have the clutter off, and we have an idea of where to start our growth with the 5 basics, where do we go from here?

It’s time to start building a More than Abundant Life!

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

What does a more than abundant life look like? Well, let’s put this in perspective from God’s point of view. God is light and in Him is no darkness at all, He is love, love never fails. God embodies the 15 characteristics of love listed in 1 Cor. 13, so He believes in us, He never calculates or concludes evil against us, He never envy’s, He rejoices in the truth. He Loves US. He, the maker of all things in the universe, and knows all things. He looks over our life to find where He can be kind by tenderly reaching out to bless us whether we deserve it or not. He pumps blessing into every nook and cranny of our life, imagine being so full of blessing in every area that we practically pop at the seams! Every time we talk, a little love and blessing spills out. Every time we do something it is laced with God’s wisdom and mercy. Every decision we’ve made has been carefully and prayerfully filled with righteousness, (right believing) wow! Can you imagine that?

Then, when we win, we won because of Him. We are protected from the adversary on all fronts and prospering from within. That is what a more than abundant life looks like. There are no worries or fears living there. Only faith and hope and love. We walk tall and proud knowing God walks with us and is for us in every situation.

Then, at the end, when we stand waiting for the awards in heaven they pull up with a cart full of crowns and medals for a life of good living and right believing. You beam with joy and pride of ownership because you are a good and faithful one.

From that perspective, is it worth the discomfort of clearing the clutter? Mama Mia! Yes! Is it worth forming healthy habits? YES!

In the physical there is no lasting rewards, but in the spiritual, your rewards last for eternity!

God bless you today!

3 Kinds of Hard Times and 1 Way to Prosper

At some point in your life you hear this phrase. “Tough times build your character.”

Then you think, “Okay, I have enough character!”

God promised us the more abundant life. Should that be enough to set us on the right track? After twenty some years studying the Word and bumbling through mistake after mistake myself, I’ve narrowed it down to three possible ways a person can fall on hard times, and but there’s only one way to prosper.

Winning the race-001

We Get Hit With Temptations or Pressures by the Devil and Fall into Hard Times.

Our bodies and minds are very frail sometimes. We get tricked into thinking something is a good way to react to a pressure, or temptation and YAMMOAHH we are down for the count. Diseases, sickness, pleasures and temptations come crashing in and we are tossed around like a rag doll.

“That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive” Ephesians 4:14

I had a time in my life in my late teens, early twenties when I’d go party with my friends. After a few beers you forget which one is the designated driver and things went down hill fast. This lifestyle can be a habit. Habits are hard to break. We can make a habit out of having hard times, but it really bites.

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23

In the end, the wages of sin is death. This is a principle. Death as in “corrosion”. It corrodes our heart, our mind, our life, our finances and our motivation. Life on this rock without abundance, blessings upon blessings and the wealth of understanding or growth that comes from getting God’s wisdom and input.  The next way is…

We’ve heard the Word, but not enough to Believe on It

God has done a really huge thing for us. He gave us salvation but then he also asks us to renew our mind. God never does anything for us that He asked us to do for ourselves. It is on us to search out His wisdom. It is on us to learn His ways, His Word and His Will. He never forces it on us. It’s a personal choice to seek God and His truth.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” 2 Timothy 3:16

What I’ve seen people do is this. God exposes them to a better way to live their life, a smoother way to operate or a “correction”. Some of you who are sensitive to these little corrections catch on quicker, but some of us slow ones need a few reminders.  Let’s take these quick verses as an example.

“Be  ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;” Ephesians 5:1

The word followers is the Greek word “mimētēs” which means to mimick. So we are supposed to love like God loves, act like God acts. How do we find that out?

We go over to 1 Corinthians 13. This probably the most memorized and read section of scripture in the whole world. Keep in mind that God is LOVE.

“Charity (Love or Agape) suffereth long, and is kind; charity (love) envieth not; charity (Love) vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh (calculates and records) no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

This is a list of 15 characteristics of the love of God. God who is love is always longsuffering and kind. It or rather, God, is not easily provoked, nor does He calculate and record all our evil against us. If this is how He acts and we are supposed to be imitators of Him, it stands to reason that we should learn everything we can about these characteristics and try to incorporate them into our life.

When we know how we are supposed to act, but don’t do it. That’s on us. So we have to keep working on us. And really what would it hurt to work hard and do it? It’s not like we have to bleed and die on a cross or anything. Jesus Christ already did the hard part. We have the easy part! Lol…

Those kind of hard times make our prayer life a hit miss target practice. Our results are patchy and there are looming problems on the horizon.

The third way and the most dangerous way to mess up is…

We’ve heard enough of the Truth to believe, but choose not.

“But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven” Matthew 10:33

God is no respecter of persons. He doesn’t judge based on what our status is at church or how long we’ve been a deacon. He sees if we have fulfilled the conditions of the promises in His Word. Of course there is mercy and grace by the tons. But when our actions are deliberate, conscious and against truth, we have tied His hands of blessing.

Reproof is the correction of error that has become a habit pattern or a doctrine in our lives.

Here’s the facts, we can’t possibly know everything about God. Either He is all-knowing and all-wise, or He isn’t and He fits in our man-made boxes of religion. I was told once that it takes a huge amount of spiritual maturity just to believe that God is good always. Ha! Imagine that one for starters. God is ALWAYS good. If that is true, we can’t blame Him for all the sickness and death in the world, we have to blame someone else.

There is only one right way to prosper, to seek Him.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33

Seek and keep seeking. I know now that I have a long way to go before I get there. I’m always adjusting. In fact, just this morning I asked God who I need to apologize to and change my attitude towards. THERE was a LIST! Ha!

“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:” Romans 3:10

I think that’s why humility is such a big deal to God.

On that note, God bless you today!

“Commit thy Works Unto the Lord and Thy Thoughts Will Be Established.” Proverbs 16:3

Let’s break that down.

The first word “Commit” is very interesting because it is the Hebrew word “galal” and is translated into several different words. Most commonly it’s translated, “roll” or “roll down”. When the Jacob found or dug a well of water his people would cover it by rolling a large stone over the mouth of the hole. When they wanted their sheep or cattle to drink, the men would then push the stone out-of-the-way. It protected the water, but it also took some work to get it moved. The stone protected their most valuable asset, water. They lived in a very dry area. That water was life-giving.

“And they said, We cannot, until all the flocks be gathered together, and till they roll H1556 the stone from the well’s mouth; then we water the sheep.” Genesis 29:8

They had to put their backs into it and push with all the power and force of their bodily strength. When we commit to something, we have to put our backs into it too.

“Thy Works,” is the next phrase. Those words are translated from “ma`aseh”

Here’s the list of the meanings.

Deed, work,  thing done, act, work, labor, business, pursuit, undertaking, enterprise, achievement, deeds, works (of deliverance and judgment), work, thing made. Work (of God)

Here’s some examples of how it’s used;

“And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work H4639 and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.” Genesis 5:29

What do you DO for God. IF you are are minister, get out and minister, if you are a helper, get out and help, if you are a prophet get out and DO the work with all the strength you can muster.

“Unto God,” is translated from, unto Yĕhovah, or Jehovah. There are seven names of God, this is the one that means Supreme God, or One true God.

“These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD H3068 God made the earth and the heavens,” Genesis 2:4

This is the most supreme commander, all-powerful, all-knowing all loving God. SO He’s the guy we obey. Is Jesus Christ that Guy? Simply put. No. He’s Jesus Christ, God’s son. God is God. He’s who we get our orders from. Even Jesus didn’t claim to be “God”. He knew that would be blaspheming his Father and the Ruler of all things.

“And thy thoughts” , is all one phrase in Proverbs 16:3 and translated from one word, machashabah.  Machashabah means literally thought, device, plan or purpose.

Here’s a usage of the verse;

“Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices (machashabah) which ye wrongfully imagine against me.” Job 21:27

These are your inner desires, plans and motives or they could be someone else’s. The word is neither positive nor negative.

Wow are you getting excited? I am.

“Shall be established” is one little Hebrew word, kuwn. It means, to be established, be stable, be secure, be enduring. To be fixed, be securely determined. To be directed aright, be fixed aright, be steadfast (moral sense). To prepare, be ready,  and to be prepared, be arranged, be settled.

Here’s one way it is used;

“And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.” Genesis 41:32

That verse in Proverbs is an amazing reminder to have your feet firmly planted, rooted and established on the One True God. It also tells me that your thoughts, perceptions, and understanding of why God had you do something will come after you obey. So many of us get that confused. Commit thy works, just do what He asked. Don’t question, don’t argue. God knows what His plan is. He sees all things.

Listen to the verse right before this one. “All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.” Proverbs 16:2.

We think we know what is going on, when God sees every aspect including spiritual influences.

Someone told me a phrase once; When things come up this should be your instinctual reaction.

  1. Stay Calm. Having emotional knee jerk reactions is our choice. Everytime. WE choose how to react.
  2. Take out the Spirits, God has given us great power to affect change right here on earth. Use it in the name of Jesus Christ our power of attorney.
  3. Walk in Love. This is our only way of knowing we’re doing things right. God is love, when we ask Him what to do next, we walk in love.

God knows this situation inside and out and He asks you to walk in Love through it all. How can you do that when you are emotionally tangled up in the situation? Beats me. Emotions are there for a reason, but we have to make sure they are under our control.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. Proverbs 3:5-7

Or how about this one in the new testament?

“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Romans 8:6

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they ARE the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Romans 8:14-15

When we commit our works we get rid of fear. We get rid of worry and pride too. We have life and peace. Get your feet moving my friend.
